RIP. I will always wonder if he was pushing too hard... No race wins are worth it. Screw dying doing what you loved.

Yeah, apparently very close. He said he didn't know if he'd hit him initially but seems clear he did... that's just got to be unbearable mental burden. Can't help but think 7th in championship isn't doing it for him either?

Still can't get over his helmet coming off... not buckled properly? Or, and I've wondered this about him before, how did he get a good helmet fit with that crazy hair? Just thinking out loud... not Monday morning QB'ing.

I was wondering about the helmet as well, if he wore it loose as a preference, kind of how some football guys barely tie their shoes.

The Ducati really isn't progressing, not what I expected when Rossi signed.

It looks Vale runs right over his head. I'm surprised he ended up in one piece.

Seems like it would have been a wiser plan to bring a current track up to Bernie specs instead of trying to build a whole new circuit. Laguna, Road Atlanta, Road America, Mid Ohio, Bell Isle, Miller, Watkins Glen, VIR and so on versus a start from scratch/Tilke designed Texmess.

And All that talk of a night race in Vegas then voila...Jersey. I guess the Monticello track wasn't up to snuff.

Whole thing was leveraged on track owner getting state funding based on having contract to hold race there with the guy who'd buy the rights from Bernie using the money the track owner got from the state. Once the state realized they weren't actually buying anything with tax payer money deal dried up.

Existing track owners know they'd never make $ one hosting a GP. No other circuit does. The COTA developers actually wanted to make their cash in paying themselves to build the track. Leave the state to pick up the hosting fee because they'd sunk so much cash into it.

But Bernie doesn't care one way or the other. Actually he probably never wanted to go to Texass anyway. Don't really blame him.

Contract or not, Bernie does as Bernie does. Even if he was contractually bound to provide a race date to COTA he'd just wax em of the calendar and claim they failed to meet certain obligations. Just ask the Koreans.

I'm actually more excited to go to Jersey (though I don't understand how it's supposed to be the greenest race) since I have a friend that lives in NYC and the idea of getting extremely hammered and hopping on the water taxi is most appealing. Though a day into night race in Vegas would have been worthy.

Despite their recent bad form, I would've gone with Williams. They have new people designing the car, etc. Renault, I don't know, seems like they're going to always be a mid-pack team.

He's hilarious to listen to, sounds like a cosmonaut or something.

I think Williams would probably relish being classed as a mid-pack team at the moment after scoring just 5 points this season 36 behind the 8th placed constructor.

    Let alone always being one?

I am happy to see Kimi back in F1, love the monotone voice and of course his skill behind the wheel.

USGP looks like a GO !

The documentary Senna is now available for streaming from Netflix. If you didn't catch it in the theater, this is your chance to see an amazing film on one of F1's greatest drivers.

    Yep.

More news about the Ron Howard Hunt&lauda film.

Sounds like this could be quite good. I wonder how the Tobacco ads over everything are going to go down? Basically it's going to be a 2 hour long Philip Morris commercial.
