I'm thinking Williams could actually make a comeback with that new guy designing the car. If I were Kimi I'd sign on for at least 3 years though.

My wife and I saw it in Santa Fe on Friday, and we both thought it was spectacular. I felt that it was very well done and gave great insight into Senna's life as an F1 superhero. It's a must see if you're an F1 fan.

A couple of times. It doesn't get better with viewing, at least not the plotline, the footage and sound does.

Lost all respect for Prost after Ayrton's death he swore he'd never so much as get in an F1 car again but did anyway. He actually came close to driving another season.

The BBC has superb coverage of the races. I've never seen their live coverage of the race, but their pre- and post-race coverage is always worth watching. Jake, EJ, Martin, and DC really work well together. It's understandable why the brits are so pissed that the BBC is losing coverage next year.

This guy's channel is worth subscribing to. He usually posts the BBC show within a day of the race. Bernie kills his account every so often, but he always comes back with a new username. Fiftybucks, Sixtybucks, etc.

BBC's race coverage is available on torrent by the time the western states wakes up, usually

living in canada and being on basic cable i only get the bbc coverage. sorry, steve. read both your books (which were relevant at the time, even if not very well written), but you've been out of the f1 circus for quite some time now. and hobbs, you haven't raced anything fast in a while. gimme CrazyD and his tighty whiteys!

Man, that makes me jealous. It's ridiculous that it takes the super duper cable here to get Speed. I really enjoy Hobbs' commentary, but while Matchett has good intentions, I typically find his engineering prowess to be a bit off the mark.

Is it possible to get the torrent without spoiling the race? That would be a better option than mooching off my friend with a dish and TiVo.

yes, they're labeled something like: F1.Malaysian.Grand.Prix.Race[2009]BBC.rip[Eng].mov at the pirate bay or isohunt. even specialized forums have a "spoiler" vs "no spoiler" thread where you could find it.

    Impressive win for Button yesterday.

Watching Hamilton come unraveled this season has been a high point, well summed up here .

Wouldn't really surprise me if he did a full Tiger Woods style melt down.

Hopefully someone will build a car to challenge Red Bull next year. Would like to see Vettel put under more pressure, still not really sure how good he is.

He's good. Natural car control and serious attachments. Watching him on Top Gear post the fastest lap time shows even in a shit box he still knows how to be smooth, carry speed and pip the Stig/Tiff. That being said, I agree PNWbrit, he's fast but hasn't had to do much "racing", in traffic, fighting from a shit quali position, a shit pit stop. Everything gelled this year. Just look at the difference between Weber's crew and Vettel's. It always seemed like Vettel had the quicker stops.

I think it would be a cool experiment to do a driver/car swap at the end of the season with the top five drivers and see how quickly they can go in each others cars.
10 laps around SPA or Monza or? It's last years car, they won't learn anything too important.

Gonna have to take Newey out of the equation to properly challenge Red Bull or a massive rule change. And hopefully Hobb's will stop being such a Hamilton boot licker, makes it tough to listen to him but Buxton has been a great addition to the broadcast, kinda wish Leigh Diffey would get to do more broadcasts, he has great energy when calling a race.

And not being a Hamilton fan, the great unravel has been entertaining. Maybe someone will through a hot dog at him as well as Tiger.

Driving TG shit box has nothing to do with F1 talent, certainly it's not able to define the microscopic differences in talent/technicque of these guys.

Seb's Monza pass of Alonso was about the first thing I've seen him do that really stood out for me (Yeah I know the Torro Rosso win there was pretty special too) clearly he's also very good in the rain and a great qualifier. Otherwise I think he's particularly smooth, very supported by team and has been flattered by having Webber (I've never rated him as anything other than mid-pack.) as a team mate and driving Newey's cars.

    .

Aren't the pit stop crews the same guys? That's why they sometimes stack team mates in pit lane. Maybe just the lollypop guy is different? Each drivers chief mechanic?

My point was that against all the other F1 guys that have appeared on Top Gear, driving the same shit box, same track (varying conditions yes) Vettel was the fastest. Faster than Hammilton, Weber, Button, Barrichello etc. unfortunately Schumi got lost on the track. Haven't watched enough ROC to know he has fared in that discipline but he certainly possesses the qualities that are shared amongst the top drivers...speed/ability to debrief with engineers/finding the cars limits

And yeah same crews but Vettel seems to routinely get the best out of them. Probably just a coincidence, though it could be favoritism. Hard to forget the Weber Wing drama.

I think if in successive weeks you put all of the F1 drivers in the TG car given the vagaries of weather, vehicle and track the times would be almost completely random. It's just not a suitable, or sufficiently focused measure of their respective talent

Yeah - Can't hurt to be a team's blue eyed boy and he certainly seems/is said to be wildly popular with the mechanics. Webber's somewhat rougher Aussiie edges, the wing and the non-disclosed biking injury last season can't have helped him maintain favor... plus I think he tried to play contract poker (rumors of Ferrari move) and lost badly this year in regard how the team reacted to him treats him. I think Hamilton's problems are largely due to his being surpassed in the team's eyes and his own by Button - who everyone expected Hamilton to just destroy when he joined from Brawn.

Not to mention Button won his title by more than a point whereas Hamilton kinda "backed" into his, if it wasn't for Glock sliding wide in Brazil, Massa would be holding the title and Hammy would be just another contender. You know that's gotta be on his mind. Vettel barely won his first title but dominated for his second and Hammy will be holding a solid 5th in the Championship standings.

Now as much as I dislike Hamilton as a F1 racer, he did well to promote himself as a likeable guy in the Seat Swap with Tony Stewart. He seemed genuinely stoked to be ripping around in a stock car.

At least it was dry in Korea this year. Found it rather interesting that the talk last year was how Korea was going to building all sorts of housing/office buildings/shops next to the track and this year absolutely nothing has changed since the last race.

During the Speed broadcast, Varsha made mention that some teams had mentioned that after last years race, the track was essentially padlocked. One team even said that when they returned to their designated offices that the food from last year's race was still in the fridge!

And Hamilton continues to a whiny little bitch to his team!

Cannot get over how awful this was. I have the MotoGP subscription and was watching from the "no spoiler" link. When I saw the segment was only 35 minutes long and being rainy Malaysia I though the race was called due to rain. When the accident happened [I was enjoying the back and forth between Marco and Alvaro] I knew it was way worse. So heartbreaking to see his helmet rolling along the track.
I also feel for Colin, I was at Indy last year when Peter Lenz was killed in an accident. Colon had mentored him and knew of his passing [was not announced to the spectators till after the race] and just gave up during the race. This is not going to sit well with him.

I am going to miss the hair which was a tribute to Hendrix. RIP Marco
