Also not a fan of fred [fof] and will be rooting for Schumy this year. I will miss the Iceman in F1 but will follow his rally season.

Feb 1 Valencia is going to be interesting, can't wait for it to unfold.

If you're looking for a jpg illustration of an F1 car from 1950 through 2008, here you go.

    Like a 1958 Vanwall

    Or maybe a 1976 Tyrrell P34

    How 'bout a '91 Jordan 191

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

    02. P de las Rosa BMW Sauber 1:12.784 74 laps
    03. M Schumacher Mercedes GP 1:12.947 40 laps
    04. N Rosberg Mercedes GP 1:13.543 39 laps
    05. G Paffett McLaren-Mercedes 1:13.846 86 laps
    06. R Barrichello Williams-Cosworth 1:14.449 75 laps

Not crazy about the shark fin but I like everything else, especially the exhaust vents. The Sauber is different, but also quite cool. Renault looks like it's on its way to ugliest car on the grid two years running.

What I meant by "minus the heavy hitters" was the absence of the three recent World Champions; Button, Hamilton and Fred, well Fred was a few years ago but a double WC and he will be a contender this year.

And the new Renault livery looks a lot like the Jordon livery from ten years ago, except way uglier

I think Schu is going to get preferred status, sadly. Season should be awesome though, the Merc car looks incredible.

The operative phrase there is supposed to be; that is one ugly car.

The new Lotus looks badass although the front wing looks really fragile and incredibly busy.

Can't wait for Sunday. Quali is finally fastest man wins and no more dicking around with fuel loads. I think we'll actually see a race on Sunday.

I hope Ferrari was running a full fuel load because those times are a little disappointing. I guess we'll find out for real tomorrow.

Should be some carnage at the back this year - too bad USF1 sucks, and the FIA wouldn't let Stefan GP (Villeneuve linked to drive) get to the grid.

Tire conservation and fuel economy will be key. Should be interesting to see how contrasting styles compare - especially at Mclaren (Button smooth, Hamilton eats tires).

I dunno why they can't write concrete technical regs - the Mclaren wing sounds like bullshit to me. Then again I'd kind of like to see them open things up and let teams try anything they want.

My money is on Alonso, though any of the 4 WDCs and their teammates have a legitimate shot this year, not to mention Red Bull. I love this time of year!

Finally, we know who is fast and who is not.
The race is going to be interesting with the backmarkers getting lapped several times.

I believe the top 3 will all start the race on super softs. I can't imagine they'll be able to run more then a handful of laps with a full fuel load and track temps. close to 100 degrees.

That bump on the new section of track will do some serious damage to someones car.
