    some of you CO folks ought to consider going to the Colorado Snow and Avalanche Workshop (CSAW) - hosted by the CAIC on Oct 8 in Leadville

    ***********

    The Colorado Avalanche Information Center will host the 7th annual Colorado Snow and Avalanche Workshop on Wednesday, October 8. This year the conference will be held at the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum on West 9th Street in Leadville.

    As always, our goal with CSAW is to host an affordable 1-day meeting of snow and avalanche people from around Colorado that will be valuable to you both as an opportunity for professional development and as a social gathering with your fellow avalanche pros.

    CSAW is intended for ski patrollers, avalanche forecasters, CDOT and county road maintenance personnel, ski guides, search and rescue teams, avalanche instructors, undergraduate and graduate students in snow science programs, applied researchers, and advanced recreationalists. The atmosphere is informal with presentations followed by an open discussion.

    Tuition: We request a contribution of $20 per participant for this 1-day workshop.

    I saw an add in Backcountry Magazine that the Avy Jam was supposed to happen last Friday but the CAIC site didn't mention it and I saw no mention of it here, any ideas what happened?

    I was just looking at BCA's webpage, and they said they cancelled the Avalanche Jam back in August. No reason given. That's a bummer. That was a pretty big fundrasing event for CAIC.

    Friends of the Sawtooth NF avalanche center usually put on a pretty good slate of classes, ranging from awareness classes (1.5 days) to level 2s (usually 3-4 days) You might also check in with the Sawtooth Mtn Guides- they do a full slate also, but those are often based over in Stanley or up at the Williams Peak yurt.

    We have lots over here in the Tetons, but that's 4-5 hrs, esp in the winter.

    class Ketchum

    Thanks, I'll check in with them. I've heard something about a combination of a class and a yurt trip. Probably over in the Sawtooths. Sounds really fun.
