Humane way of getting rid of rabbits (nsr)

along the lines of dm's squirrel problem, I've got quite the problem with rabbits in the backyard. seems as if they are starting to burrow in the yard now which only means there are more on the way. any suggestions on how to get rid of them in a humane fashion? we've already lined the backyard with chicken wire, but they still find ways to get in.

    any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Dude

Thank goodness you added the "NSR" to your thread title. "Humane way of getting rid of rabbits" had me thinking all about skiing (actually snowboarding...)

Yeah, but it won't taste very good, I don't like the taste of little lead balls.

Import a few dingos. I'm sure the Aussies would love to ship out a couple or more.

    Get a dog or cat
Get a pellet gun (not a .177 gun but a bigger one)
Make one of those wiley coyote traps with a bent over tree that then flings the rabbits across the neighborhood, modern art

Get your own rabbit. Preferably a real nasty male. We used to have one when we were kids that would chase anything out of the yard, cats, dogs, squirrels. Kind of a guard rabbit if you will. Get him fixed of course.

we've had two dogs in the yard up until last summer, since then we've had an infant in the house and had to give the dogs away, hence why the problem is more noticeable this year than in years past.

other than trenching the perimeter of the yard and getting a fence that has a finer mesh than chicken wire, I think we are just going to have to deal with it.

I appreciate all the suggestions, if we find a way to get rid of them, I will definitely share.

my idea was to shoot 'em and then chop their heads off and then stake them along the fence. housemate didn't think that would go over too well w/ the neighbor kids.
