I found this visitors guide to Nantucket, looks like it's pretty in depth depending on what you're looking to do on the island. Plus links out to all the places it talks about, so that was pretty sweet. Definitely head to the piers and check out some of the fishing boats, and any given weekend town is the place to be. Just don't bother bringing a car downtown, there's no parking.

    Thanks fellas.

Yeah, By far, not my first time on Nantucket. First time dragging a board along though. Is there anything around the Surfside, 'Sconset side or up at Wauwinet worth checking out? I've heard Madaket is good. My brother used to surf there before he got busted up. What's the deal with the new cut there though? I heard you've got to be careful otherwise you get sucked through to the sound.

    Willie,

I'll get your stickers. You're gonna have to come out to the Thunder Dome to get 'em though.

Thanks for the link to the Chicken Box, looks fairly chad-free. I'll have to check it out.

    die yuppie scum

ya, I figgered you were lookin' for surfing spots, not just sightseeing on the island. Never been to a Nantucket Race Week but it can't be as annoying as http://www.figawi.com/
Chicken Box is a healthy mix of Chips and Skips in Blue Blazers, crusty islanders and plenny o' horny chicks on vacation from NY/CT (I know you've got that one covered)It's a great vibe at The Box, usually great music, too.
I'd be stoked on those stickers, even if it takes until January to get them. I wish they still had Indian Summer surf shop with the grateful dead bear on the traditional ACK sticker.
a Nantucket Race Week hat looks way cooler than those ghey red Mount GAY Figawi hats everyone thinks they're so badass wearing( yeah, I had one back in the day)

Got any couch space ? ACK is just a ferry ride away.
My Bear 9'2" longboard stays in Hyannis and just got a new travel bag for her on whiskeymilitia.com

We'll be in Hyannis friday, my daughter's been in camp in Brewster for the last 2 weeks.

Less of a booze cruise, more real racing. Lots more rich people.
Most of the week is small boat racing.
Thursday is a Falmouth -> Nantucket race.
Fri/Sat/Sun is around the buoys for the big boats.

If you need any advice feel free to PM. I kinda know a little about it.
And a good friend is a 2 time nat dinghy champion. She kinda knows how to sail too I guess.

The big blue beast from Dartmouth will be thundering down to Falmouth next Wednesday afternoon for the race Thursday.

    dingbat mark,
The thing I emailed you about is Cisco Brewers/Triple 8 vodka doing a world wide toast ( maybe just island wide) on friday 8-8-08 at 8pm. They did some special whiskey and my buddy used to work for them out there so he's trekkin out for the bash.

Ah, thanks much William. I had my self all confused. Vodka today, O-zone Sunday. Think I'm gona miss both but am confident I can make up for it if I keep my head down and power through the rest of the week. Plenty of deck time to be had and the pitcher will be near.

Ack from the perspective of a surf instructor

The best breaks this year are at the bluff and ladies beach. Most of the south shore has been really dumpy this year with the way the sandbars formed so depending on the swell you may be riding right up onto the sand. Also low tide can be sketch so look for a medium tide if it gets bigger. To get to these beaches head towards cisco beach and make a left at bartlett farm road go to the end and when the road turns to sand and you pass the golf course make a right to head towards the beach. This will take you to beach access 11 (ladies beach). from there the bluff is just 2 accesses to the west. If your feeling gutsy you can ride the ferry wake which pumps out a 100 yard chest high left. Check it out when your steaming in. i've hit it twice and was almost sucked out to the sound but we had a dinghy luckily. I teach surfing out here so if you want a "three hour tour" or rent any board in our quiver including stand up paddle boards go to www.nantucketsurfari.com. Shout me out if you do call, my name is eric.

eric, good stuff. We teach kitesurfing in Boston and on the cape. Do you know any of the kite crew on ACK ? I haven't kited out there since they banned launching at Pocomo. Got a session with John Kerry once, tho.
