    skis for heli-skiing.

As you guys like to say I may be a JONG but I am also new to the forum and a 'stranger' so please be polite
And yes I've already looked for the info on the forum but I'd mostly kindly ask you to help me in my specific situation as it is.
The question is quite simply what the best skis for heli-skiing in say Alaska are for an advanced finesse skier whose vitals are as follows: 175 lbs. 5'11'' tall.
    Thanks in advance.
P.S.: no I am not going to post my girlfriend's/sister's pics here

Then GTFO. On a serious note, Volkl Explosivs - works for CMH.

"Finesse" suggests you might not enjoy slarving on reverse camber and sidecut skis. (If you don't know what those terms mean, search here on "mental floss.")

What skis do you ride now (and in the past five years or so), under what conditions, in which locations, and what do you like/dislike about them?

Serious? It's a great ski and all, but I wouldn't be caught dead wasting heli turns on a ski that narrow.

Ok. Thank you guys. Let me specify a little bit. My current skis are 177 Mantras which I like in pretty much most conditions. I dont think they can work well for Alaska becuz of the fact they are still somewhat narrow and stiff for powder and not long enough.
What do you think of 183/190 KAtanas. Which length do you think will work better for me?
    Thanks.

any powder ski you're comfortable on would work....if you're going to spend the money to go heli-skiing, spend some dollars to demo powder ski's so you know what your options are.

Hel-skiing sounds pretty dangerous to me. Have you considered a safer activity ?
Since you seem such a real nice guy, I'm willing to take your seat in the heli, to help you out. Just PM me what I need to know.

Go for the 190 katanas, they are only like 186cm long. The 180Katanas would be about the same length as you 177Mantras. You could go for that length too of you prefer your skis short and dont really charge, jump too much or have leg issues. I am also 5'11 and about the same weight and skiing pow in skis under 185cm really sucks for me. Gotta love the titanial topsheet feeling hey! 197Katanas on the way for me!

Just use whatever the heli op rents. There is a reason they chose those skis and it has to do with their clients having the best time of their lives.
