She turned around and downclimbed 15’ like a rock climber to the lowest branch and then jumped 10’ down.
    Natural climber that cat

    Like 20-30 minutes.

I stood under the tree and called her and she decided to go for it.

The black cat is taken to jumping up and walking on the railing above the stairs. He already fell off once about eight feet and was okay but if he falls off and wrong spot it's more like 15 ft. Not sure how to keep them off... and it makes me not want to let them out on the deck where there are birds will make them want to jump up on the railing which is more like 20 feet. Yeah... I would keep them off the deck until they get through their wild kitten jumping stage. I knew someone who lost her cat because it jumped off her balcony on the other hand my GF lets her adult cats out on her third story condo deck all the time. They are fat and lazy now at 8yo.

    Good looking kittens!

Probably not until they are a few months old. We waited to let them out until they could get their rabies shots - 3-4 months??

Kitties are definitely not particularly sure-footed... Mine fell down the laundry chute when she was a few months old. She was messing with the dog who had infinite patience but managed to get her teeth in a spot which must have been painful. Dog yelped, kitty got scared shitless, probably thinking the 90 lbs beast would devour her, ran across the house as far as she could and hopped in the first hiding spot she saw, the opening to the laundry chute. She made it through and missed the laundry basket, landing on her ass on the concrete. Ended up with a tail bent at a 90 degree angle and temporary paralysis. She recovered but has no balance, hates it when you touch her tail or the base of her tail, and she has the foulest temper in the world.

Sigh.... looks like I've lost another barn cat. Last of my torties. Her mother was the first cat to come to my barn after it was built and she promptly gave birth to her and a male orange tabby. 4 months later there was a second litter, 6 orange tabbies (5 male, 1 female) and 1 tortie.

Out of all those cats born in 2010 I only have four left and they are all males. The mother and her 2 tortie daughters are now gone along with 1 orange girl and two orange boys. 6 cats gone in 8 years time. Sigh....

and further "sigh".... why are my pictures showing up rotated? I've tried saving and re-saving. Tried to get to the EXIF info but can seem to find it. I just don't understand what is going on esp. since it just started doing this.

Thanks all - you are more than kind and very thoughtful. Here's to Juliet "Jules" my little tortie girl. RIP.

Sorry KQ. I grew up around barns full of barn cats. "Gone" was better than definitely hit by a car, at least I thought so as a kid.
