That was his original name for the first month then it got changed to Mr Chao. Mr Chao is a big hit with vets and vet techs so it stuck.

Sal is a good name but doesn’t get that smile like Mr Chao does.

36 hours no tail biting and no cone. Certainly too early for celebration.

Mr Chao is quite the regal beast, hopefully he's out of his tail munching phase.
I think we're about to become a 5 cats household, finally managed to pet the skittish and seemingly homeless back kitty who's being raiding our front porch food supply for month. It was 10 degrees this AM and when I got out he was meowing non-stop from under the patio furniture. Got him food and water and he let me approach him then retreated to a nook under a pile of cushions. He's probably tempted to come in but with 4 other asshole cats and a dog it's not going to be easy for him. I need to have him scanned for chips but if he's on his own we're screwed, he's way to cute to remain an outsider...

Vibes 4matic. My cat wasn't that crazy but quite wild from living in the bushes. Hissy bitey claw monster. Over time she mellowed out. Every year a bit better.

Sigh... lost another one.... Idris my little black kitten got hit this morning. It must have just happened when I found him because he was still warm.

To add insult to injury I mailed my Christmas cards today. The ones that go out of town contain a letter (or as my GF calls it "the farm report"). In the letter I had a picture of Iddy and told the story about how I found him. Guess it's a memorial now. I don't plan on telling anyone - don't want my Christmas letter to turn into a downer but I needed to say something so here I post.............

Sigh. Gonna miss him and they way he'd greet me each morning in the barn. How he would follow me around the pastures and run up to me then flop on the ground for a belly rub talking the whole time. Sigh.

Yeah... he was a free spirit and there was no holding him back from exploring the world. That's how he ended up at my place. Still, I'm feeling rather lost and it has taken the wind out of my holiday sails.

She (cat, not the wife) would also bring in dragonflies, chew their wings off and leave them buzzing on a brown shag carpet. Nothing like stepping on a wounded dragonfly while barefoot...

Do those things sting? They're scary as hell, but in all my years I don't recall anyone getting stung, not that stepping on those creepy mofos would be ok even if they didn't sting.

Mr Chao not biting his tail and he's acting fairly calm. He was not fully grown when he went in the cone two months ago, that's almost a year in cat years! It is a different cat. I'll post a picture soon when he's a bit cleaner. Skin oil, flea medicine, cat hair mousse, and dried blood is not a good look. lol..

Chao and I both thank all the cat people here. The support and pictures really help brighten and encourage. Keep the pictures coming!!

Steady as she goes. He has a recurring habit of trying to bite his back and gets so contorted he falls off his perch and land hard with a thud in the middle night.
