Proof that cat see themselves as true apex predators, basically Siberian tigers with a different color on their coat. A Great Horned stands at what, 4 to 5' tall? That's a pretty hefty bird to go after...

Wingspan, not height. They are still huge and very dangerous to kitty.

Alright, the internet says 2' tall and up to 5' wingspan.

In my defense I've only seen 2 great horned, one way the fuck up in a tree and one starting me down during an alpine start. First one I couldn't really see all that well, second one freaked me out so much that I think he was at least 6' tall and carrying a knife...

Update: we never found where the cat puked. However I'm positive she did from the noises. Either she did it behind something or the dog ate it. I was not able to get off the phone, nor was I able to mute it, during the episode.

Good on you for giving elder kitty another life. She looks great, probably a bunch of solid years of comfortable lounging in her future.

His Shagginess, overlord of the wood chips. I did a lot of work around the house/yard yesterday and kept track of his "activities". After breakfast he lounged in one of the planter boxes for a few hours (pic above) then migrated to another wood chip spot near the chickens. He stayed until lunch, came in to get food, went back to the S facing woodchips in front of the barn where he stayed until I disturbed him taking my bike out. I didn't have eyes on him for a couple hours but when I got home he was sleeping on the hot concrete in the driveway. He came in for dinner then back to sleep on the back patio couch where I found him this morning. Total activity during the day estimated at 20 minutes: 15 of eating, 5 commuting between various nap spots. Must be exhausting being him...

The fucker also hauls about a pound of wood chips with him at all times.
A few nights ago Ms Boissal got in bed and started shouting about something, I ran in there thinking she was being attacked by a giant spider or something equally terrible. Turns out she was in a fight with Ugly after having rolled on top of him (he loves to burrow under the cover). When I got in bed I found out my side was covered in wood chips. Guess they fell off his ass when Ms Boissal squeezed him and she just brushed them off from her spot to mine. Wife and cat are actively teamed up against me...
