    SoCal Surf mini?

Eh? TWINS put me up to this. I can plan stuff, but from my limited personal experience so far in this corner of CA, it's difficult to gather SoCal-ians into one place at one time. It's too damn spread out. But hopefully a mini would work?

    When? Where?

    Wrong forum??.....

Descend on Jalama and make a Maggot Camp. If the surf/wind cooperates, that place can be killer. And there is a thinning crowd factor.

Up by Lompoc? It's kinda far, but looks cool. I'd try windsurfing.

What about somewhere in Del Mar? I don't know the waves very well. I need Twins input - are you still in? .....also, what about a date?

No shit. Everything is booked solid basically until Labor Day.

That said, I'm down for a day trip somewhere- I figure it's best to have a lot of people I know around when I try to surf, since it's basically a form of controlled drowning.

Funny SSD. For me, it's more of a form of uncontrolled drowning

If this happens in Central Coast I'd come down just to hang out with mags and fire up the ol' grill for people out in the suf. Ottime will try to talk me into the water, but my unbouyant unswimmable ass will probably be just fine in a lawn chair with a Lagunitas IPA.

We will get your some inflatable arm buoys. No chance you will sink.

OTOH, some one handling the grill always is nice.

Ok, so tomorrow I'll give Jalamamamma a call and ask if they have any campsites available and during what weekends for the rest of the summer and get back to y'allz. Stay tuned.

Last time I was there Jalamas was first come first served (no reservations) Show up in the morning and put your name on a list. Never was denied a spot mid week. Friday though Sunday could be though. They might take reservations for a group spot though.

Not a TGR specific Mini but a Mammoth forum GTG is happening in 2 weeks at Bolsa Chica State Beach.Waves are nothing special where the firepit is but still entertaining.Or just drive to the other end of the lot to the jetty for decent surf.Maggots and Maggettes are welcome. Here is the link.

One thing I don't think has been mentioned about Jalama is water temps. It's not a place you would like to trunk it even in summer. For something like this, SanO could be a good choice. It's a trek for us "central" coast folks, but it's a great place for things like a mini. Mellow vibe, water is toasty is right now, non gnar surf, and fun spot to just even hang out and drink some beers, bbq, and play some petanque.

I have a wetsuit and a petanque set. So, again, I'm in.
