    Imperilled Padang Padang!!!

    Check out the story here:
    http://surfermag.com/features/online...ng-boat-crash/

In short, a pirate/ghost Taiwanese fishing trawler managed to pick the exact take-off spot at Padang to crash into

There's still confusion as to what happened to the captain and crew but the upshot is that it's been spewing disel all over the Bukit. They are planning to tow it off on the high tide this a.m. but if it breaks up then there will be oil all over the shop and maybe Padang will be no more

Stay tuned for the outcome of this potential disaster, www.baliwaves.com is likely to have the updates.

Too bad about the fuel being spewed. The boat crashing is funny, but the effect of the fuel, not so much.

When I was there April-June, a fishing boat ran aground 100m down from Shipwrecks on Nusa Lambongan. Shipwrecks has a new shipwreck. They tried two months in a row on the new moon to get it off but no luck. Hopefully this one goes better.

What the fuck do they feed these people?? How special must you be to crash into the exact takeoff point at Padang? Of all the million miles of coastline, why must it be there?! And Shippies too- does it affect the waves there at all?

No, its probably more like 200m down. Hell, if it had come in with more speed and force, there's potential for a new channel and wave to be formed.
