    Last roadie question

Okay, I've narrowed it down to three, what should I do?

This bike, full Ultegra, velocity deep v clincher wheels, $1310 final price, no tax, etc.

Next, this one, with tax about $1400. Ritchey Aero pro wheels.

Or, this one, again about $1400 with tax. Shimano 540 wheels.

    1. Fuji
    2. Felt(lose the triple crankset), from what I understand that wheelset is heavy, but strong. You can always upgrade down the road, it's nice to have at least two wheelsets
    3.Cinelli

    Go for the Fuji

I'd get the Felt without question over the other two. But, yeah, those Shimano wheels absolutely suck. Can you get the Felt with a different wheelset? You'd probably save some money.

If really want to know what I think, save some more money and get the Land Shark. With Ultegra, you're looking at, what, an extra $700?

    Fuji=> 17.2lbs

Felt=> 18.7lbs, heavy wheels, the triple crankset is for jongs

The Fuji off the shelf is a better set up, it's an easy decision.

Ya, don't like the wheels on the felt either. Slow, heavy. I'm assuming they are all three full Ultegra because that would be a major factor. I personally haven't ridden any of those frames so don't have an opinion on them.

My own personal theory on buying road bikes is to go used, but that is just a late opinion mucking up all your plans. I bought a used D/A Litespeed Vortex, didin't like the frame, sold it for 2x what I bought my Calfee frame for. In the end spent considerably less than what you are looking at and ended up with a sweeet full Dura Ace Calfee which is one of the best Carbon bikes out there. Considerably better feel than the oclv's and basically in the same ballpark weight wise.

another high note of the fuji, it has a full carbon steerer, not a metal one like that cinelli. I am not sure about the felt. Since I ride on a 2002 Team I will say

    Fuji
    Felt (without triple)
    Cinelli

Also, I dont know where you are located, but you might want ot change out the cassette and go for a spread of something like 27-12. That gearing with a double in the front works well on long ascents. At least for me.
I was amazed at how light and fluffy the powdery snow was and at how the challenge never ended.

Did a little research and found the Felt was bought out. Probably still good frames, but who's to know?

I also spoke to my lbs and they can put together either an Airbourne (forgot which model with Ultegra or a Guru ( a Canadian/Quebec frame builder) with a mix of 105 and FSA each for about $1500. Feel free to PM me for details.

Another option is go with a Marinoni or Surly frame and have your lbs build that up. Both companies make excellent frames at very low cost.

Bottom line is that you've got options. Have you taken the time to test ride? Do that and learn as much as possible, then make your decision. At the end of the day, there's nothing to worry about; just ride and be happy.

I'm sorta w/ comish on this one, why not go used? It's not like these bikes get beat up. I mean, who's more anal than a roadie .
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.
