MPC#18: Celebration (July 2-July 10)

Contest ends Thursday July 10



The Rules:

1. Photos must be taken within the time period of the contest.

2. You may submit 3 photos during the competition.

3. The contest moderator will choose 5 of the photos to put in a poll for the mags to vote on and decide the winner.

4. The winner will get a happy feeling in his/her pants. (That is a rule by the way not an option)

5. In the event of a tie, the contest moderator will have the deciding vote.

6. Winner will be the contest starter/moderator for the next comp.





Topic = "Celebration"

With the 4th of July weekend coming up I thought this would be a good topic for the next MPC. I'm not picky and any kind of 4th of July picture will work; don't be shy and post them up!
For those of us not in the US, any kind of "celebration" photos are allowed, as long as they are taken within the contest period.
The contest ends NEXT Thursday so don't wait too long or it will be too late. Good luck.

At the start of last week I was figuring it was going to be another routine 4th of July. On Tuesday night walked out onto my porch and saw the hills above my place on fire. This is the Gap fire a couple hours after it started. Fire in the hills above Santa Barbara is always a very scary thing




Came home from work Wednesday and was blown away by how large the fire had grown. The power was out, evacuations had been ordered, and it was snowing ash. It was a restless night.




Thursday morning grabbed my favorite things and headed down to see the family. Was a bit hard to celebrate while sketching about what was going on back at home, but thanks to the firefighters who were busting their asses on the 4th instead of partying the fire was prevented from entering town and looks to be headed towards containment for the time being. The firefighting work has been truly impressive, we are very thankful!

I was a over a hundred miles SE from the SB Fire, but it made for a nice Sunset...
