Who's been on the Ark recently?

Just got a call from a buddy who lives down on the river; gonna be hitting the Ark tomorrow!!!!!!! I'd love to get into the Gorge, but it just closed today when the water jumped 300cfs overnight! So I'm not even sure what exactly we'll be running.

I just thought I'd drop in and see if anyone has run the Ark in the last few days? I know its raging right now (3500 cfs this morning...). A friend of mine went swimming in the Numbers a few days ago; sounded like fun!

Any first-hand Arkansas stories from this season?!?

Skiing, whether you're in Wisconsin or the Alps, is a dumbass hick country sport that takes place in the middle of winter on a mountain at the end of a dirt road.

I'm pretty sure the gorge isn't "closed". They haven't been running commercials down there much, if at all this month, but right now it's just under 3600 and I know some guys went in there a couple weeks ago at 4200. So I don't think it's closed.

Haven't been up there this year yet... but soon

Well my buddy works for Echo, and we got the $7 special! So even though our friend is taking us, it'll technically be "commercial." We'll see what we end up doing, but I'm damn STOKED no matter what we run!!!!!!!!!

Looks like 300 is about the daily fluctuation to me. Tho Buenee-Browns-Salida did see some good rain/hail late afternoon yesterday which was the first moisture in months it seems.

The "closed" thing is probably just coming from all the talk/mumbo-jumbo lately since the river has been killing so many people the last few weeks. Lotta close calls too. Makes the soccer mommies and tourist biz operators uptight when that stuff goes down.

Unbelievable responses coming from rescue services lately too - like 30 responders on scene within a couple minutes...

we ran the Ark this weekend - it was above 3000 about the whole time. 300 cfs doesn't make much difference at this level.

zoom was big and rowdy! seidels was big and rowdy! pinball was a blast. the trickiest part for me were the eddies. Some, like near widow maker, were boiling and nearly sucked my raft over. It was fun all around.
looking for a good book? check out mine! as fast as it is gone

For the record, I ended up getting down the Gorge on Tuesday at 3800cfs. Needless to say, it was big and rowdy. Sunshine was fucking huge. As well as Rush. And the narrows was ... well ... well its the narrows, and its sketchy at any water level... The run is closed for commercial trips until it drops below 3300 again.], but all y'all should get out there now before our current snowpack totally dries up! Now is prime time. Go get it!!!!!
