Well, I'll consider one of those but what about more traditional ducky shapes. Narrowness matters for some of the small streams around here. Like the culverts under Park Ave are pretty narrow.

They call that stretch the Quicksilver Express.

Nice. Yeah, I'll mostly use it for floating from the Tarn to Dillon Res and deflate it and ride the bus back to Breck. It will see some use on the stretch from Silverthorne to Green Mountain and 10 mile creek.

You should check out the Sevylor XK-1. It's probably the cheapest, smallest, decent IK you can buy. A friend of mine had one for a couple of seasons without any problems. I think I saw a new one on Denver CL for $400 or so.

Mothafuggin NRS Bandit. Only 17lbs. I've run much class IV in one. Fun as hell. Ridiculously light and you can prlly roll it small enough to fit into a pack

Edit: the packrafts are pretty sweet too

If you're looking for performance, thrillseekers were the tool of choice for ELF boating back east when Jeff Snyder was running waterfalls and slides that didn't have pools (look for the old movie "A Token of My Extreme."). He invented striding with them too. Used ones are out there.

Not sure what they're called, but I remember some euros and kiwis in the mid-90s using inflatable enclosed kayaks that weren't any bigger than a creekboat for big hikes and rocky landings.
