Energy Guzzled by Al Gore’s Home in Past Year Could Power 232 U.S. Homes for a Month
Gore’s personal electricity consumption up 10%, despite “energy-efficient” home renovations

NASHVILLE - In the year since Al Gore took steps to make his home more energy-efficient, the former Vice President’s home energy use surged more than 10%, according to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research.

“A man’s commitment to his beliefs is best measured by what he does behind the closed doors of his own home,” said Drew Johnson, President of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research. “Al Gore is a hypocrite and a fraud when it comes to his commitment to the environment, judging by his home energy consumption.”

In the past year, Gore’s home burned through 213,210 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, enough to power 232 average American households for a month.

In February 2007, An Inconvenient Truth, a film based on a climate change speech developed by Gore, won an Academy Award for best documentary feature. The next day, the Tennessee Center for Policy Research uncovered that Gore’s Nashville home guzzled 20 times more electricity than the average American household.

After the Tennessee Center for Policy Research exposed Gore’s massive home energy use, the former Vice President scurried to make his home more energy-efficient. Despite adding solar panels, installing a geothermal system, replacing existing light bulbs with more efficient models, and overhauling the home’s windows and ductwork, Gore now consumes more electricity than before the “green” overhaul.

Since taking steps to make his home more environmentally-friendly last June, Gore devours an average of 17,768 kWh per month –1,638 kWh more energy per month than before the renovations – at a cost of $16,533. By comparison, the average American household consumes 11,040 kWh in an entire year, according to the Energy Information Administration.

In the wake of becoming the most well-known global warming alarmist, Gore won an Oscar, a Grammy and the Nobel Peace Prize. In addition, Gore saw his personal wealth increase by an estimated $100 million thanks largely to speaking fees and investments related to global warming hysteria.

“Actions speak louder than words, and Gore’s actions prove that he views climate change not as a serious problem, but as a money-making opportunity,” Johnson said. “Gore is exploiting the public’s concern about the environment to line his pockets and enhance his profile.”

The Tennessee Center for Policy Research, a Nashville-based free market think tank and watchdog organization, obtained information about Gore’s home energy use through a public records request to the Nashville Electric Service.

adding solar panels, installing a geothermal system,
So in other words, Gore uses a lot of power, but has replaced the power generated from carbon sources to non-carbon source to a significant degree? no hypocrisy there, unless I am missing something.

Interesting spin on the statistics. So Al's house eats up about 12 times the average. Not so sensationalistic. Check out Bill Gates consumption.

Whether or not you believe in Al Gore or Global Warming it doesn't matter.

All the things that Al Gore mentions to help save the environment are good things. That message is out there, and I'm glad it is. You should endeavor to do all of these things - reduce your CO2 admissions, save water, recycle, etc.

The goose-stepping brown shirts don't tell you that. Are they power hungry, or just blind from hate?

The story is that despite knowing his own hypocrisy, and likely being alerted to news pieces such as this, Gore's consumption has continued to rise.

And Buster, well done ignoring the context of the situation.

I'm not ignoring anything nor hiding behind some ridiculous second alias. It's immaterial to me if Al Gore fucks goats and burns a zillion kW per lubefest. There's a bunch of reasons to try to use less. You can make it a fucking religion or make s religion out of not making it a religion. The bottom line is that you're all a fucking dumpload of sackless pansies.

We've been through this before. My handle is based upon some douchey character from a movie. I am a human being typing a bunch of words. Your handle is based upon some misguided perception that a bad pun amounts to cleverness. You are a human being typing a bunch of words.

And I am glad that its immaterial to you. Likewise, I am sure that it would'nt offend your sensitivities that a minister who's sermons inspire real change and offers us all a bunch of reasons to be a better person, does the opposite behind closed doors?

I think Buster was just pointing out the ridiculous, and misleading, statistic. Which compromises the integrity of the article, and this thread, and makes everybody reading it stupider.

The electricity that I use every year could power 7,345 orphanages for one minute.

well if Bill Gates was chief of the sky is falling brigade on global warming it might be a problem. but since bill hasn't made a mint on admonishing the rest of us to mind our environmental p's and q's I think we can leave him out of the discussion.

the real hilarious part of this is that Al is eating up 12 times average after he made his house more green?

I don't give a shit about Al Gore. Comprendo? Do I need to write those words a bunch of times again? What Al Gore does is immaterial. He's a fucking politician. What do you expect?

But the dumbest crap is that you quimheads keep trying to use Al Gore to prove that 'using less' is a bad idea. So there's a bunch of dummies who try to make reasonable things into a religion, a 'lifestyle' and then sell it. It's America, people sell shit all the time. What are you a communist? There's only 1 thing worse than a global warming alarmist. An anti global warming alarmist bitchqueen.

Molesting priests are only a part of the reason I think religion is stupid. More importantly, religion has no data.

BillG is promoted as the world leading philanthropist. And he does admonish people on just that.

Al Gore is a fucking politician. What do you expect? These are the people that run for homecoming king, get a blowjob and figure that it's a good lifestyle.

It's immaterial and disingenuous to prop up that fat ass they way you fuckers do in order to discredit 'doing with less'.

I agree with Buster that the figures they used (232 in a month) amounts to a giant heap of douchebaggery.

And this thread isn't about recycling, using less, not littering, it's about Al Gore being a douchebag and using anthropogenic (just for you rainbow bright) global warming to fatten his own pocketbook, and in the meanwhile being a complete hypocrite.

GLOBAL WARMING!!!! might be the biggest bunch of douchebaggery around today.

Now buster, you know that's not true. They have the bible and the bible is full of data. Not only that I took the bible, imported every word and number into an access table and then fed that to my stat sampling program and to date have ran it more than 100 times through the sampler (and a different seed each time), every time the answer has come back 42 (except once, it came back 43 which I take to be proof of the rule) so there's definitely something there.

You don't have to give a shit about Al Gore to give a shit about truth, honesty and the integrity of those who try to shape your life with legislation.

You think that you will find the potential merit of a religion by looking towards the men who sell it? I would love your standard of investigation for one day. My life would be simpler and much less examined.

Someone's power bill, for their own home - is public?

The feds have been monitoring your electric usage as of late PNW.

No, but you fail to distinguish between religion and faith. Faith is a great thing. Religion, and your grip on standards, not so much.
