    FACK! I've torn my pectorial!

Didn't realise at the time but I'm pretty sure it happened when I kicked a ski at full speed in Great Scott on sunday 6/15. I think I dragged my hand while in the process of falling. My whole shoulder was sore sunday night but I didn't think too much of it.

Monday night I was showering and washing my chest and armpit and my L pec really hurt. Then I noticed a big "hole" in my muscle about 1/3 of the way down from where it connects to my deltoid, and all the muscle from there is bunched up toward the center of my chest.

It's not that painful and I've been able to mountain bike on it without much trouble. There are a couple problem motions like "butterfly" type motions, and it's very tender to the touch, I can barely stand to apply stick deoderant. The muscle is kind of cramping where it's all bunched up too and I can't really stretch it cause it's not attached to anything.

I see a Doc in the AM, hopefully not too much downtime. I'm mainly scared of injuring it further but I think if it healed as it is it wouldn't be too bad. My shoulder does feel a little "loose" though. A friend had surgery for a tear that was worse than mine but when they went in, it was such a mess, they couldn't really do much. Hopefully my prognosis is better.

    FACK!

    Anyone have experience with this???

No experience with a torn pectorial, but I did get a torn gluteus maximus from a couple of bad bails snowboarding a couple of seasons ago. Pain you´re describing sounds very familiar to me, at least somewhat. I couldn´t do shit with my left leg, and got jolts of pain whenever something inappropriate was done.

I never heard of surgery as an option, only rest for a month or so, with painkillers when needed. Since surgery was never mentioned to me, I´m starting to think your situation might be a touch worse than mine was at that time.

Any way, big vibes sent your way.

    Edited for clarity.

Well, saw the Doc. Good news I guess. He said as long as my current level of activity didn't hurt it too bad I could continue business as usual. Basically I would have to try pretty hard to make it worse and it will heal with time.

About 30% of the muscle is shredded but the tendon that anchors it is still intact, strained, but intact. The muscle is really sore and a little weak but it fires normally. He did say I'll have a "permanent defect" in that muscle though. There goes my budding career as a pectoral muscle model.

If you know your history, then you would know where you coming from, then you wouldn't have to ask me, who the heck do I think I am.
