can these bindings be mounted with out the free flex mechanism (all the stuff between the heel piece and the toe piece)?

You'd have to switch out the AFD and the heel track with non-free flex pieces. But there's really no point. It doesn't add stack height. The whole mechanism is rather negligible.

the reason i would want to remove it is with the plate i will be using the freeflex would a) not fit well, and b) be useless

no the heel has to be attached to the toe or it will just slide around ala the salomon zz race setup.

but really you'd never notice the FF dealio was there... if the holes fit and you get them cheap fuck it.
