i have a serious question for all of you. I consider myself an adrenaline sport kind of guy. I get really bored doing/watching things that are not either incredibly strenuous (crew) or life-threatening. That is one of the attractions of skiing for me.
So how can you all not just watch, but LOVE something as slow as baseball? (note the use of the word 'slow' not 'boring')
It's a little bit having played a bit of it growing up, and really enjoying that (although I gave it up for other sports by HS). But it's mostly, for me, what you'd probably think of as cultural. Every summer I used to watch the Red Sox on the little black and white TV in the kitchen, and got used to rooting for them. When you get into baseball you realize how complicated the game really is, and how much is going on both near and away from the ball that makes it interesting. The slow pace is part of it.
But regular season games that don't mean much, and don't involve the Red Sox, I don't usually get into (unless I'm there in person).
You ever been to a MLB game?
Watching the last two Cubs games, one observation. These people were wildly celebrating in the streets and in the stands when they got a third-inning lead, like they had just won the game.. In both games. Bad move. We RedSox fans have learned the hard way you don't start the celebration before that last out is recorded. Period. (SEE: 1986 1978 1975 1967 etc. etc. etc.)

That explains the mayhem and burning of cars after Oakland went down.
