Just for continuity ...I came home for almost 3 weeks and then went back down to replace my replacement. They had reached work days limit. 14 regular days and 7 day extension. I put in 12 more days.

As wildland firefighters, we get to see some shit. As part of a dozer crew we are some of the first to be sent in. My job allows for plenty of time to observe from the front line...

....I plan on going again next year.

Also, Cooper had a long and happy life with us. We rescued him from a less than ideal situation when he was about 5. We had him for 6 years. I made sure to give him lots of scratches.

KC opened Thursday. New owner, new system. Urging patrons to buy online, tickets preprinted and ready at window when you get here. You show us confirmation # or ID and we hand you tickets. Boom. Buy in advance and get a bit of a discount. Trying to get rid of lines, but everyone needs to get on board.

Conditions are mediocre, but getting better by the day. Hit it Thursday night. I worked till 4 thirty, unscheduled. Tate and I making a few runs. He arguably the best rider up there that night. So fluid and graceful. Flawless actually. Dang. He throws down. We have so damn much fun, both on the slopes and in the chairs.

I read that and was sad to hear about Hull burning. I used to fly Hang Gliders up there. I have many memories of that road up to the launch site and hanging out at cloudbase at 11,000 over the lake. All those trees are probably gone now. We used to camp down at the lake or sometimes halfway up the road where it was cooler. Thanks for sharing your story and pictures.

Woah. Spent the better part of a month in a tent there at Navy Camp Campground. The bigger Oak Flat Campground next door was used as camping/meeting/staging area. Never got closer than a half mile or more to the waterline. Afraid to walk that far in fear of being butt raped by one of the 9 rutting bull elk hanging around. Could see evidence of high water mark near edge of campgrounds from sometime in the past.

The forest service personnel had watched and directed choppers and hotshot crew as they dumped water North and West of Hulls summit for days. We went in next, me watching from near the summit all the first day. The North and East east side of Hulls having burned a few years ago forming a long fireline.

Yesterday. Me and the bird at the shack at top of 2. I filled in for a liftie. Holiday crowd. Antics on the off ramp was a shitshow of epic proportions. I am a snowboarder, but fuck them snowboarders.

Met and worked with a young man for a few days on the fires in California. Dozer Boss trainee. Told me that him and girlfriend were planning a ski trip to MT/ID/WY. I told him to hit us up at KC. They showed up yesterday and I was able to hook them up with tickets. They said they had a great time! Nice.

Thanks! Early morning. North bound. 50 miles or more at 70 mph before we saw another vehicle, and that was a snowplow. 10 below f. Traveling music turned up.

The nondescript peak in the background is Gilmore Peak, or as some call it, Meadow Lake Peak. Very rugged when viewed from the NE.

The pebble creek kid possie skied Kelly a couple of sundays ago. We skied it the day of 6 or 8 in day. That place is classic mom and pop ski shop. FUN

We had a blast and I was looking around for ya but no luck.

I can see that hill being fun with fresh snow, Our kids had a blast. I will say I sat on an ice chunk on the plywood seat thaT is covered in fake leather and no padding.

FROZE my ass off.

That is KC for you. Most seats did get new pads this and last year. There is talk of a newer quad going in where 1 and 2 are. Terminating a bit further on than where they do now. No mid ramp.
