Hey man been lurkin on this thread for a while, just gotta say excellent work!

How's Ririe/the Teton Valley?

me and my lady are scouting out where to relocate to, obviously you have some excellent recreation activities so I'm sold but do ya think more of a city girl would like it down there? I grew up in Bonner County (ID) but there' not much for jobs there, IF/Ririe/Driggs etc. any better?

Anyways, keep up the good work bud!

The job search, at least for me, isn't going so swell, though my age and my type of work experience is "working
against" me. Warmer weather will help..we shall see. Thinking about just toughing out my last few work years in the oil fields, I have connections...

.....so I can't really say what it would be like for you, though I can't imagine it could be any worse here than there.....

Did take the little one up the the hill today, got a couple of runs in!

Anyone who lives in this area can attest to the fact that it just nuked all day today. I went up to check on the eagles. This is what I found....

This shot is representative of what it looked like to me when I first got there.....I couldn't tell if there was an eagle in the nest or not for quite a while..... I was just taking photos with the intent of looking at them closer when I got home....

I did finally make out the head of one of the pair. Wow, I was so relieved to see this, but also thought to myself what an incredible scene it was. I measured the new snow depth where I stood and found it to be 8 inches of wet dense snow, and to think that yesterday that there was no snow here at all. None. Incredible. I can't stop saying that.

When the snow let up a bit. This is what I saw. Mom (or dad) still sitting on the egg. wOw.

Well, trip report...hmmmm. Not sure that it warrants a full blown report, but I will elaborate a bit more..

Some of you will know that I have been watching this pair for a while now, couple of years. They are in a spot where they can be seen by just about anyone if they know where to look. There is an overlook above the Snake River where anyone can walk over to and enjoy the view. The nest can be seen, but unless you are very observant you will probably not see it. I guess that 98% of the people who walk out to the "edge" do not see it. Probably a good thing. The eagles do see each and every one that is standing there though. They have become a bit habituated to the sight and sound of humans. In order to view the pair a bit closer, one has to cross private property. I am fortunate to be acquainted with the owners. Still, I keep my distance and always make it a point not to disturb them. They do know I am there, as they can see everything no matter how far away.

That particular day I was concerned that the severity of the storm would cause them to abandon the nest. In fact I was sure of it. As it is only a short distance away I decided to go have a look. From the overlook one could not even see the nest - snowing too hard, so I walked around to a spot right above the nest and had a look. Still could not see anything in the nest and thought for sure the pair was gone. I took several shots and thought I would have a look closer at them when I got home. About that time the male poked his head out of the snow (he was completely buried) and looked up at me. Wow. Very cool.

I have been up a couple of times to check on them, all seems to be well! I think the egg has hatched, but have yet to spot the chick. Was up there for an hour this morning, but did not stay long as I had Liam and my son (Liam's father) along. Liam was OK, but we had to keep him in the carrier as there is a 100 foot drop off the cliff right there.

Now, I have some good news concerning Trenton. He has recovered from his drug (meth) dependance. It has taken a few months, but he has finally returned to normal. The darkest days of my (and his) life are over, and joy has returned us. It is such a relief, so much so that I have a hard time putting it into words. Suffice it to say that it is nothing short of a miracle and I am so proud of him. Liam's mother is back in jail (again) as she is finding it very hard to stop. God that is sad.
