    WTFWMD (NSR)

hypothetically speaking, let's say your vehicle scraped the side of an expensive vehicle when you pulled into a parking spot. superficial damage to paint. no damage to your vehicle.

    no one saw it.

your insurance deductible is high ($750) in order to keep your premiums low.

    what would you do?

    a) reverse and run away
    b) leave your name, address, license number, time and date on the vehicles windshield

I would just start ramming the shit out of their car then call the cops and file a complaint for them damaging your car with theirs. If nothing else you'll easily make it past the deductible.

The proper course of action is to leave your name and number etc...

Leave the car next to your car's information.

That was my last recourse to the drunk ass that did the ole hit and run on me and wouldn't fess up (I just found a few cars in a parking lot that looked like they had been hit reciently). Insurance will not believe you that somebody hit you unless a cop saw it, or they admit to it, even if paint from your car is still on their car.

    Or....

...you could do what a friend of mine did once; leave a note that says: "I ran into your car. I'm leaving this note so that the people watching will think I'm giving you my contact information. I'm not. Have a nice day."

    Thumbs down

I was tapped last week in my apartment complex, from what I gather or in a parking lot somewhere. Didn't notice it, go to put stuff in the trunk and notice a small impact and the paint peeling up in two splits horizontally on my bumper. My car's not expensive but it's mine.

    Leave your info.

Always save business cards from obnoxious people whom you feel deserve the hassle of explaining why they hit someone else's car and left. Also handy for leaving with that not-so-hottie who wants to hook up with you again.

Seriously. How fucking pissed would you be if someone fucked you by not leaving their info when they dinged your car?

    Think about it.

phUnk may have a point; my buddy who pulled the fake note trick died from a bee sting.

    Karma can be tough.

    See my above post.
Seriously, not a huge deal, but one of the splits is about 10 inches long the other about 4. Bumper was a-ok, before that. Little fumed about it.

Accidents happen, walking away from something, is different.

interesting. thank you for your viewpoints. with all due respect, i like it how people come up on their soapboxes and holier-than-thou attitudes. the question is "what would you do?", not "what is the correct thing to do?". can you honestly tell me that you would practice what you preach if you were in the same situation?

forgot to mention a couple more points. see if your answers change.

what if you've experienced the same thing to your car 4x, yet no one has ever left their info?

what if you don't believe in karma?

what if the $60,000 vehicle you hit had a Bush Cheney '04 campaign sticker on it's bumper?

    flame away

Carry a 12 pack of colored sharpies around in your car. You'd b surprised how many paint jobs sharpies can blend in w/ and not be noticable. Just fill in the scratched area if it's little. i did it to my own car after some one scraped it and no one has ever noticed. If it's large, leave your info (or the phone number of some one you don't like).

Pondering over editing my last post saying, not that I haven't done something in the past that I would have later liked to change.

Oh, and with the sticker bit, you were right, fuck em'.

DJSapp's method of minor (less than 4") scratch removal:

    1. Spit on affected area
    2. Buff out with t-shirt or rag (if neither are availble, use your clothing)
    3. If scratch is still noticable park somewhere else.
    4. If your belief in karma is strong, leave a check or $10.00 in an envelope for the guy to get a bottle of touch up paint. A minor scratch shouldn't require $$$$$$$.

IMHO people make too big of deal about the looks of their cars. They are for transportation. I could care less what my truck looked like as long as it is comfy, safe, and performs.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

Regardless of what your way of think thinking, you should respect other peoples property, it shouldn't matter what it is. What ever you do, don't try to rub the scratch, you'll make a 4" scratch a worse looking 4" scratch with swirly shit around it.

Back in 2000 my pop got an Honda S2K. Drove it to work after having it at home for 2 days and some fucker hit the rear bumper and left a nice 3 inch scratch. The duchebag didnt leave any info, and we are still pissed about it.

So now the car doesnt get parked within a quarter mile of anything that has wheels.

I've scratched a car and left my info, and the person called me back and said it was no big deal. Another time I was sitting in my car and a this old dude in a cadillack hit me while backing out of his spot, and then denied hitting me. I got into an argument with the old guy and called the police(there was no damage I just wanted him to admit he hit my car((which already had a run in with a tire wall at Summit Point))) and it turns out he was intoxicated and he got arrested. So karma does come back and bite ya, even on the same day.

And dont park your car in McLean Virginia.
