Question Tahoe Summit Places to Stay

I figured I'd start a thread on both boards re: places to stay for the Tahoe summit. I was web surfing a bit and realized how confusing it is to figure out where to stay and if it is a decent place or not. Plus I'd like to get an idea where others are staying too b/c it might help w/ carpooling, socializing, etc.

I'm heading out for 3/10-3/15, so that's kirkwood & alpine meadows w/ possibly squaw sandwiched in on Sat.

So where would be a good place to stay? Also, do most places offer a shuttle? Or is it best to rent a car?

If you guys have ideas, web links, know of good deals/were able to negotiate a nice rate, or advice please post here or email tahoesummit04@yahoo.com. Also if you know where you're staying let us know so we can have an idea of where people are congregating. We will compile the info and post it on the site.

I know it's early, but I would like to get as good a deal on lodging as possible. Especially now that the husband is grumbling about a big veterinarian bill we had to foot this weekend to save our kitty kat from an untimely demise.

Lots of options in both Truckee and around the Lake, Tahoe City, Kings Beach, etc. (North Shore) or Tahoma/Homewood (West Shore), ranging from flop hotels to cabins/condos. Both are about the same drive to Alpine or Squaw. Being at the Lake (North near Tahoe City or West Shore) is about 30-40 min. closer to the 'Wood.

There are shuttles avaliable from both the North and West shores.

If you're thinking of doing the Wood also, a car might be the better shot.

One option you might think are the North shore casinos, just past Kings Beach on map. They sometimes have pretty good deals. Try here http://www.tahoebiltmore.com/tahoe/S...5/0/direct?c=1.
