A bizarre situation is developing in the small mountain town of Granby, Colo., where a man is knocking down buildings with an armor-plated bulldozer.
According to witnesses, the armed man ran the bulldozer through the library and town hall, which are in one building and also smashed into the local newspaper office.
There are unconfirmed reports the bulldozer driver is armed with an automatic weapon.
The Colorado State Patrol says U.S. Highways 34 and 40 are closed around Granby. The town is located at the intersection of the two highways.
Several eyewitnesses told 7NEWS the scene in the downtown area is chaotic and numerous law enforcement officers were in the area, shooting at the bulldozer.
The bulldozer driver also ran through the cement plant and local Xcel Energy building, and over at least one police car, according to witnesses. He then headed west out of town, pursued by law enforcement vehicles.
The bulldozer was said to be heavily fortified, with steel plates welded onto it and also areas for the driver to shoot out of. One witness described some areas on the bulldozer as "gun turrets."
The Grand County Road and Bridge Department moved a large piece of equipment into the path of the bulldozer in an effort to block it.
The rampage began around 3:20 p.m.
Some residents in the small community were evacuated from the area for their safety.Skiing, where my mind is even if my body isn't.

A man with a modified Cat (EDIT D-9) with armor plating welded on and a .50cal machine gun is destroying Granby, Colorado. He has destroyed Town Hall, 2 story newspaper building, a police car, a store, and many other structures. Authorities are shooting at him and trying to stop him with another bulldozer! HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!
Bullets are useless. They've been shooting at it with "heavy weapons" ("heavier than police swat weapons") for an hour!
Maybe they'll call in an AH-64 from Ft. Carson and have them hit it with a 20mm canon or a hellfire missile. Or maybe a man portable antitank weapon or recoiless rifle.

When I was over there today, I saw a sign that had a bed sheet draped over it that said, "Peace thru Firepower"...I laughed and didn't think about too much, but now I know that guy placed it there, and this guy is trying to prove a point. They said he'd worked on fortifying his bulldozer, thought to be a D-9, for over a year. This guy has a political message to convey, were all going to hear what that message is soon.....

"He has moved methodically from west to east, demolishing, or trying to demolish certain structures," said Curran. She said, so far, there have been no reports of injuries.
Curran said police moved in a big scraper out of the landfill trying to block the bulldozer's way.
She said that didn't stop the advance. The armored vehicle was moving west out of Granby in an unpopulated area.
"We are doing everything we can to stop this chaos," she said. Curran said shots had been fired. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department said that it has SWAT officers on the way.

I think they're afraid to broadcast the images live, because this thing is going to end up really ugly.
If he hasn't hurt anyone, I don't think he should be killed, unless he poses a threat, but the whole town has now been evacuated. Is it okay to kill some one for vandalism?

Didn't a report say he was heavily armed with a gun turret on the tank? Just a guess, but I bet that makes the cops a little nervous, more willing to use deadly force.
Besides, Driving a armored tractor into public buildings could probably be ruled as using leathal force.

Not a tank, a D9 with metal welded on the side for protection. The gun turret is not true. Images on the news now. He's just tearing down buildings of people who he feels wronged him.
I really hope they don't kill the guy.
He's stuck now and doesn't pose a threat. Pobably no gun,hopefully he doesn't commit suicide and the law talks him out.

the cat is disabled due to radiator damage or someting....
they'll kill him.... they'll cut a hole in the armor and shoot through it.
I think if the national guard gets a tank in there, he'll look down teh barrel of a 120mm smoothbore canon, he'll shit himself and surrender... that or one look at an AH-64 hovering in front of him and he'll surrender
