Does anybody have any info/experience with the Sage FLI or Launch rods ? Are they just cheap rods ? Or a good deal ?

Sage doesn't make a "cheap" rod.![]()
It seems like this topic has already been hashed over I just found the thread from Jan.
I'm waiting for my SLT to pop up on ebay. Missed one last week. Sounds like the FLI is an ok rod but not worth the $ ?
Try High Country Flies. They might still have a few SLT's left at a good price.
I have a 9' 9wt FLI that I got off E-bay a few years ago for about $140 new. Worth that price, but not worth the price tag at MSRP. They're pretty brittle in the top 8" of the rod. For the price I paid for it I would say it's a good deal all in all.
Some of the Redington stuff uses Sage custom sage blanks as well. FWIW.
Since then it's been a book you read in reverse, so you understand less as the pages turn.
The things you find on the net.
I've been very happy with my 9' 5# Launch. Great rod for $200.
I thought Reddington was owned by Sage, no?
I have an old Fenwick that is made from a Sage blank. I also have a Sage vest from back when they were doing vests/bags, etc. I don't think they still do vests.
Also, keep an eye on Sierra Trading Post - they have Sage stuff all the time; rods, clothing, hats, etc. (if you're into the Sage logo gear, they have it cheap)

The lower-end Sage rods are still Sage rods. They're excellent. 72 is correct though - Sage doesn't make "cheap" rods. I think a Launch is still over $200.
My wife actually rocks an SLT in the 8'6" 5 wt. The thing is amazing - if you get one you won't be able to put it down. It's so light, when you pick up the rod tube it feel empty!
