    Jeep SRT8 thoughts?

Seriously considering this. Faster than an M3 0-60, AWD and huffs gas faster than jessejones. I found a used 07 with 8K on the odo for about $37K.

how much will i love/hate life? I've read most of the reviews. This would be my only vehicle. I need to get out of my audi allroad. Considering a taco but not sure how much fun that would be since I live in the urban jungle.

    what say the collective?

First off, even with awd, it won't do great in the snow cause of its huge wheels and performance tires. Also, prepared to be flashy as hell as this thing is loud and has a street racer type body kit. It is loud, brash, and unrefined, but that is a decent deal. However, that good deal will come back and bite you in the ass when you are payin 60 bucks to fill up everyday, especially if you are in the mountains.

I live in orange county so loud is the name of the game. I test drove it yesterday. its a mean machine. I work from home so no commute, rarely would it see snow unless I move. Still its expensive.......

11 mpg with premium fuel and $4.00 gas prices seems ridiculous unless it was something you actually needed.

I do not know much about the Jeep you are looking @ exept to say, people who have purchased them seem to be getting rid of them fairly fast (Short lease)?
    I don't know the reason.

Actualy I don't know of anyone who has the SRT. I have just been around the MDS.

As far a real jeeps go the only one that seems to be a good replacement and a big improvment of the previous Cherokee is the new Wrangler.

Its a very capable and comfortable 4WD with more interior room than my Late 90's Grand Cherokee

To bad they don't offer the 3.0 diesel in the Wrnagler

It's a fucking waist, and an excessive piece of garbage. You'd know this if you ever owned a recent model Jeep, and aren't a total moron.

If they offered a diesel in CA for the 4 dr Wrangler, I would consider it. However, I'm hearing bad things about their quality as well. Too bad the FJ doesn't come with a top down option!

btw, I'm not accusing you of anything. Just saying that you must have never owned, say a 2000 Grand Cherokee Laredo.

Well I guess the real question is...

Are you really that rich to be able to afford a car with around 10 mpg that can't do a thing off the concrete? It's def a sweet rig, but clearly a toy for the super affluent or financially retarded.

If you are driving in the "urban jungle" and want balls under the hood... why not get a sports car? Easier to park, not blatantly pathetic so-far as gas milage, more fun to drive... Or if you need that bit of space inside, just step it up from the allroad and get a used RS6. (This is all on the assumption that you are willing to drop a bunch of cash)

If you don't drive balls to the wall constantly, it'd be super easy to get 15mpg+ from one. I drove one the other day, bad as hell.

I really can't comment on late Jeep reliability or if you're okay with how flashy it is, but snow is a concern. I've heard of being able to use 18" Grand Cherokee wheels with spacers to put snow tires on, but don't quote me on that.

Have you considered the Trailblazer SS as well?

thats the thing, this isn't expensive at the onset. you can't buy a sports car, with those numbers, for that kind of money.

get an STi or something. all suv's drive like shit and are a waist. This is simply another example of American excesses, disguised as a "cool" car. I think it looks dumb, and ready to explode and flip over.
I think American cars are intentionally built with bad blind spots and week bumpers so you're constantly replacing shit. Or at least our 2000 Laredo was. I'm not even talking reliability because we only put 18k on it by the end of the lease. Yes, we were the perfect Westchester family unit, with a car that got 18mpg downhill with your foot off the gas to go to the train station and back.
God, people are dumb. And that POS was $380 a month.

Since you've done it twice in this thread alone. Waste is the correct spelling.

    lol, I suck at life
but at least I don't own a Jeep!
Our gas prices couldn't at all be related to the fact that we all drive one per Tahoe.

Well unlike Hunter here, Ive got a 99 Grand Cherokee Laredo and fucking love it. Yes Im lucky to get 18mpg mixed driving, but I dont have nearly the problems hes complaining about (well he never mentioned anything specifically - me thinks hes just anti-SUV). Plus, I actually have driven the SRT-8. I say get it IF you dont mind paying for the gas. Im sure with the motor its got itll suck it down good, but call me American, I love big trucks with big motors. My jeep has been rock solid reliable as well, but its got the 4.0 straight 6, probably one of the most reliable motors ever made by any company.

hukt on fonicks wrkt 4 me.
    And I did use specifics.
And if you look at the engineering and small details of an "American" car (a lot of them are made in Mexico and Canada) and a "Foreign" car (half of them are made here, anyway) you'll see they are about ten years ahead of American cars. All I see everyday are 1-douche-per-auto tiny penis'ed morons you have to drive lifted 350's to commute 4 miles. Thanks for funding terrorism and re-enforcing the Status Quo.
This thread is just bringing out my anger at that. And there is a lot of deep down anger that runs in my family, which I blame for my coming across as a giant asshole on the internet. In real life and all smiles and jokes.
I'm sure some of these above-mentioned are perfectly nice, intelligent people, but they're socially irresponsible douche nozzles.
Not that I'm so great. As I type this (well, not at the same time) I'm eating some stir-fry and noodles. How many pesticides were used to grow the vegetables and wheat, and how much fossil-fuel was burned to transport it to me. yeah, I'm not so great, either.
EDIT: AND I just washed a bunch of chemicals down the drain cleaning the bathroom

Yes, my mom, my dad and I are all incredible bad drivers (this may actually be a strong possibility, but my mom doesn't even own a car anymore), and it has nothing to do with that fact that you couldn't see shit out the back window, until you hit something, and your 2-miles per hour bumper caved in. You couldn't even see a stop light when you came up to an intersection.

I drove by a fender-bender once between a rear-ended Jeep and a Mercedes. There were pieces of Jeep everywhere, and not much more than a bent fender in the E-class.

    Really?

    Find a slightly used 2006 in the low-mid 20s
    0-60 in 4.6ish
    18-20mpg
    Way better handling
and just imagine what you could do to it with an extra $10,000 that you saved.

Obviously not about this particular model, but read it and be afraid, very afraid about the future of what will probably be the first of the big three to vanish soon. And you're going to buy a product from such a fucked up company? The Germans walked away in disgust.
