Legal Beatdown: Student Fined For Marijuana Use

    Pot leads to $100 fine

    Sudbury, Ontario CANADA

A Sudbury judge refused to give a former city high school student a conditional discharge for having marijuana at his school last November.

Court was told the school's principal was doing a walkabout on the school grounds when she saw Michael Poyner, 18, trying to stuff something into his jean pocket.

The something was a small plastic bag containing about $10 worth of marijuana, said federal drug prosecutor Richard Huneault.

Ontario Court Justice Guy Mahaffy rejected a suggestion that Poyner be given a discharge. Such a disposition would mean that Poyner would not end up with a criminal record.

Such a sentence would send the wrong message to those who take drugs to school, said the judge.

"A discharge here would pass a message to those with drugs at school that it's OK if you get caught because all you get is a discharge," he said.

Instead, he convicted Poyner and fined him $100.

Two men and a juvenile are accused of digging up a corpse, decapitating the body and using the head to smoke marijuana, according to court documents.

Matthew Gonzalez and Kevin Jones have been charged with the misdemeanor offense of abuse of a corpse, said Scott Durfee, a spokesman for the Harris County District Attorneys Office.

According to documents filed in the case, Gonzalez, Jones and an unnamed juvenile on March 15 went to an Humble cemetery, dug up a man's grave, left with the head and turned it into a "bong."

Gonzalez told authorities about the incident Wednesday, and showed officers the defaced grave, including a 4-foot hole. Because of a heavy rain, officers were unable to determine whether the casket or the body had been disturbed.

True, although Michigan claims most rights, I personally claim Windsor as northern Ohio territory.
I think that the human mind is unique among all other forms of life in that it can spontaneously create unique thoughts and provide unique behaviors. Instead of rewarding that uniqueness we, for some reason probably because of cultural and social necessity, we chastise unique behavior and reward conformity.

    selected for US Govt. grant.

Last week someone calls me and says that I have been selected for US Govt. grant. He asks for my social security and DOB info for verification. Then he asks for my bank account number and route number to transfer the money without any cost. Is that how securing Govt. grant really works? Can he do any damage with that info specially the bank related ones? Can you help by providing me your experience and opinion about this?
