In your user control panel are you set to browse with cookies?

Try unclicking browse with cookies and give it a try -- then it will just use link properties like any other web page...

Clicked again, still no change.

I don't have a red eye. i also don't see the color change. I don't know if it helps or not but back before the upgrade here i did see the color change.

if you click on the arrow it takes you to the first new post in that thread. I always thought that arrow indicated "read" threads?
