Have we reached an all time low here? I likely receive maximum 20 calls a month on the cell, and now I'm getting spam.
This sucks. I'm gonna reem AT&T a new one if I get any more of this, then spam the hell out of those two e-addy's.

    that is all

Yesterday's LA Times had an article about this new problem

Spam's Assault Going Beyond Annoying E-Mail
Unwelcome e-ads now clog instant messaging systems, Internet logs and cellphones.

I just got a new cell phone. Have not put my number anywhere near the internet and got a text last evening.

    WTF?

The fax machine in my office gets about 5 spam faxes a day. Anyone want a 5 day trip to Miami for $99?

Yeah, they really, really piss me off. The other thing that makes me angry is telemarketers who call me... I pay for those calls!

I would love to know how to stop getting spam text messages.

I thought telemarketers where not allowed to call cell #'s

did that recently change or is it a regional thing!

It's gonna get worse. Last year my cousin made the front page of the WSJ for inking a $1 billion deal with Mc Donald's to create and distribute text ads / coupons in China via cellie.

Solution to this problem: Get rid of your text message service.

Seriously, whe wants to type out messages on a friggin cell phone keypad?

Wireless number portability (WLNP) has changed that since you can take landlines to wireless and vice versa. In the past wireless had their own exchanges but since it is open now for all porting, that rule has pretty much gone out the window.

The only way to ensure that you don't get telemarketing calls on your cell is to add the number to a do not call list. National do not call list is here

At least the spam you guys are getting at least has the potential to be useful. The only text-message spam I ever get is in Spanish!
