PBR Whitewater Event, last weekend in May

SPAM it up. My buddy is heading this event up. It's totally non-profit and the proceeds go to building the Boise whitewater park.

    www.pbrkayakevent.com

    Highlights:

Boatercross and "extreme" slalom on the North Fork Payette with qualifyers for the big events on the Green.

    National Rafter X championship.

Drinking beer with us. It's a super fun, laid back weekend. There's poker floats, downriver stuff, rodeos, etc.

Here's some pics from last year:

Let me know if you'll be around, maybe we can share a fire and party a bit.

That sounds pretty happenin'. I'm moving to Boise in a few weeks and that looks like it might be a good place to find some paddling partners. And drink beer.

Anyone know what the latest on the Boise play park is? I read somewhere that it's supposed to be done this winter (08/09). True or false?

That's the rumor but I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah they really haven't even started designing the features yet (as of the last public meeting at the beginning of April). They were looking for public opinions up until a week or two ago. The kicker though is they still need around 2 million dollars. They're looking for private donations to help fund it. My experience fundraising for the Fort Collins park is it won't happen this year unless some of the big money donors step up big time.

I think hanging them above the boof would be pretty cool.

The rafter x should be pretty cool to watch since the South Fork should still be pumping out some really good flows and everybody will be jocking for position. Mrs. Faster and I will be there. Should be a fun time.

Bump for this weekend. Who is going?

I will show up for a couple hours on Saturday. I have to work Saturday night so no camping for me. Still unsure if I will be there for Friday night.

Sad Santos, lawn darts and myself will be heading up Friday afternoon with a motley bunch. Mrs. Conundrum is going up Sat afternoon. Prolly camp around Otter's Slide or up the SF.

Hope more people got out to more of the events than I did...

    1. It was great to see local boys take on the USA raft team...
    2. Representation from Colorado and Oregon spiced up the competition.
    3. Slalom Kayaking event at Otter's Slide was sick with chomp, chomp carnage...
    4. Staircase was juicing for the raft/kayak sprint events...
    5. Great people, great weather, great times...
    6. But alas, I had to ditch much of the events and go paddling myself. The Payettes are money, right now!
