    28 hours of Fruita TR

Wed evening, the decision to undertake a quick hit and run mission on Fruita is pondered and approved. Some old friends from Utah were making the trip down and I had a fews days left of unemployed status to kill. Trigger pulled.
Take care of some biz Thurs am, throw some shit in the Sooby (truly, more 'thrown shit' than 'packed') stop at teh sto' for some tasty, canned beverages and go.

After 4 hours, no piss breaks and one stop at the pizza place for some dinner slices, I rolled into zo's 18rd campsite at 6pm. A High Life was enjoyed, gear was sported and we ripped out a quick lap down Prime Cut and up Kessel Run. I forgot the camera.
Another High Life, a few bites of sandwich and gulps of Red Bull and I embarked on a solo lap to milk the last of the light. I forgot the camera....then turned around and got it.
    A bit of Frontside.

The moon gave me some ideas

My initial plan was Joe's Ridge, but I was feelin saucy and Frontside was in epic shape, so I went out to Zippity Do Da instead.

    Zippity is rad.

The light faded by the time I got back to camp, but I was not feeling done. The moon was big, the skies were clear and after dinner and a few Dale's I thought some more riding was in order.
It was dark, I was lightless, but it was the goods. Frontside to Joes to Kessel, back up Kessel to the top, and back down to the bottom of the campsites. Some of the coolest riding I've ever done. It was pretty fucking dark. I think I was just over 12 parceps, but I did manage to catch some dudes with lights on the way down.
The next morning I drank some coffee and shot the shit with my buddies, but decided to split and hit the Koko trails.

My default route always starts with some Moore Fun.

This is one of my favorite places on Earth.

This is what happens when aspirations of photo-geekery and hydration packs collide. I was tightening my seat, heard a trickle of water, turned and...doh!

My first route of choice was going to be a sweet figure 8 of Moore Fun, Lions, Mack Ridge, Mary's (maybe with Steve's or Horsethief), but when I got to the Troy Built junction I could not resist the temptress. It had been many years since I rode Troy Built, and the memories were good but a bit hazy due to snow and darkness. I wanted some redemption.
    The temptress

Troy Built is the furthest west portion of trail so it seems to get ridden less than the rest of the Koko network. Thats fine with me.

Back to the car at 2, on the road, back in Denver by 6 for dinner. Mission Accomplished.

    Addendumb:

    A few more pics.
I barley remember taking this pic (sic)

This guy was doing a BetterRide Clinic with my friend Gene Hamilton and special guest Andy Winersomethingpolish. He left his door open when he left the lot, I went to close it and noticed he had a pistol grip for gear changer. BMF.

The faaaaar west siiiiiide of the Koko loops, last stop for Colorado.

    Fruita is kewl

Saw these rocks and the first word that popped into my head was "jumblies", then I started thinking how jealous I was that British folks get to call boobs "jumblies". I like jumblies

A little bit more of the sweetness that is Troy Built

Good Fruita stoke. Night missions at 18 road after a few beers are my religion.

Out of curiosity, which direction do you prefer Moore fun. The one time I rode it, we went East-West, which was rad. I am excited to do it the other way though.

I generally prefer East to west, but I have done it the other way. I remember hating the climb, and the DH seemed more chattery. The cows have fucked up the east end of the trail, it is our duty to ride the trail into smooveness and submission.

I remember on the descent (the west side) thinking that it seemed steeper, than it did climbing up on the East. Maybe I will just get into a rut, and always ride it East-West. Such a great trail. Freehealer and I had a blast on it when we were there last October.

Sounds like I need to get down there soon to help with the cow damage .

Nice work J! The thing I hate about this time of year is, you have to pick between skiing some of the biggest lines and best snow (corn) all year, and the best desert riding conditions all year. Usually not a problem but when you only get one weekend a month back west it's a total PITA.

Nice pics! I'll be down there Wed. Local buddy has some "new" rides to show me, but it is a tough call since I have some favorites that are just soooo hard to not ride. Short visit, sadly.

Sweetness. I hit up Troy Built on my last trip out there, after not having ridden it in a long while. Starting with Moore Fun, and Ending with Horsethief is never a bad ride. Add in whatever the hell ya want in the middle!

    Nice photo TR!

I'll be in Grand Junction (for work) starting Tuesday afternoon/evening and can't wait to try my new bike on some new trails. Given the number of good trails mentioned by seasoned Fruita riders, any recommendations for a Fruita noob would be appreciated.

Troy Built is probably my favorite trail on that side. So fun, lots of little airs and features plus just a dash of climbing. I even see the boulder that took out Jimmy Page last year in one of your pics!

On the 18 Road side, you just can't beat the flow of Zippity. It's silly fast in some parts, silly sketch in just a few places and makes you grin like none other.

With a back window like that and a pistol-grip gear shifter, isn't BMF even an understatement?

Awesome TR, can't wait to be there in June.
