    Quickie TR: BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAINS!!!!!!

I had every intention to take a mellow tour into the hills outside of town this morning and find some soft tree runs. Well, AfroMullet had a better idea, and I'm a sucker for a good idea.

So today we skied Shit for Brains. We approached from the pass, which was an extremely pleasant ridge cruise. That last half mile was bitch, but I'll spare you the description. Lets just say this: exposure makes you feel alive, and I'm pretty sure my adrenalin reserves are all cashed out for now...

Anyway, the line was a blast. The snow was pretty awful. Four inches of thick, heavy (but still soft) day-old pow, on top of a totally bomber, hard-ass base. Created a survival skiing situation, but it was still fun as hell. At the bottom we were finally able to open it up.

I'd also like to stress to the masses how small a world this is, and espically within the skiing community, it seems like you're always running into people you know. Well, we were catching our breath and admiring our line from the bottom clearing, when all of a sudden we realize there is someone skiing up to us. I turn around to say hi, and then realize, HOLY SHIT!!! Its LoneStar!!!! Him and SheRa had just made some beautiful turns down Margerie's (I think that's what that area is called, anyway). This world is a strange place, let me tell you!

Anyway, it was great to see you today Brent, and SheRa, wish I could have joined you for those beers! Now, on to the pictures!!!!

While crusing the ridge, with Torreys and Greys looming over.

    AfroMullet, dropping in

And the exit. Those are my turns running out the apron.
Skiing, whether you're in Wisconsin or the Alps, is a dumbass hick country sport that takes place in the middle of winter on a mountain at the end of a dirt road.

Great TR. I wish I'd hit SFB when I lived there, but good snow and my time off didn't ever really match up last year. Mostly because it didn't snow that much.
Congrats, mags! We collected 1030.68! for birdman!

Nice job that's a fun little cruise. We did it for the first time last sunday, unfortunately 3 or so people beat us to it. That however made it really nice to get through the rocky section as there was a path to follow through the maze of rock with minor technical sections. A little freaky for sure, I was glad I didn't have to find my way through there as that would have eaten time.

Unfortunately my photos got erased from my memory card accidentally but I got a few from my phone hope you don't mind me posting them up!

Pretty cruiser line IMO the only hard part was avoiding shallow rocks in the middle of one section as snow was flowing over them. My partner got a little tripped up by that.

Was on the list for this year, but I guess I will have to get it next year if I am still around.

Looks like you guys had a nice run.

Forum - I think that was us that track-set for you...we came up directly from the Abasin last chance carpark since the pass was closed. Faster than the ridge walk...and considering the wind on ridge top...a welcome change of plan. Conditions were great from about 1/3 of the way down - freshies!

Super nice to meet you guys. Yesterday was really fun too. We skied a couple of laps in the steep gullies and it was a little firm.

Good job on SFB. I was thinking of skiing it again this year - maybe when/if the tracks get covered. Marjory was so awesome.
