    Bluegrass in AK

Odin and I are planning another weekend trip for the Memorial Holiday. Thought about going back to Kennicott, maybe Denali or even Cordova, then we heard about the bluegrass festival in Palmer. Anyone ever been? Palmer is not too interesting to me, but I do love bluegrass.

Going back to work now. Will check in later, hopefully you all will have offered info or even some suggestions of fun in AK.

I spent a month in Cordova in March. I've heard it's very beautiful in summer. But, I would say that salmon season just fired up, and it's probably a madhouse with all of the fisherman right now. I guess that could be fun if you're into that sort of thing.

You might still be able to tour the heaney range, too.

Well, it won't be Cordova. I have decided to go there June 11 for the Salmon Festival. Bluegrass would be good, but that was when I thought Left Over Salmon was going to be there and well.... they are not.
Decisions, decisions....hmmm.....if that is all I have to worry about, life is pretty good.

AKPM - is there still snow at Alyeska? Skiing would be nice. I haven't done resort skiing in quite a while.

I grew up in palmer, and well, yeah i geuss there isn't a whole lot to do, but if you do make it there, make sure to go into the talkeetnas or hatchers pass as its called, beautiful hiking and almost gaurantee some skiing to still be done. also try and hike Matanuska Peak, start at about 500 ft and go to 6000, nice day with incredible view as well.

palmer was pretty nice a week ago when I was coming down the alcan back into town, but the weather is kinda lame right now. Bluegrass festivals suck though! I hitchhiked out of talkeetna one year cause it drove me crazy! Boarderline camp will be way more fun!

i haven't done hallucenogenic drugs since I was 17. Drug Free and Proud. being high on mushrooms around a hundred or so hells angels shooting off their guns all night isn't fun to me. most of the people who go to the Talkeetna Bluegrass festival don't go there for the music. They go there to get messed up and do as many drugs as possible, I've seen every drug known to man done there. Dudes who even smoking sherm! Not my scene I had to get out!

I drink from time to time and have nothing against weed, but I don't smoke. i just don't like being out in the middle of nowhere around crazy people with guns. Plus they cut down so many trees in that area for the festival. All of that just for a few days of partying. Kinda dumb.

Packing up to leave and still not sure what the plan is. Odin gets off at 6. Figure we will hit the road and figure it out from there.

Love bluegrass, so maybe we will hit that in Palmer and then go to Talkeetna from there.
