    Flyrod question????

In the market for the standard 2-piece 9' 5wt everyday rod for the CO rivers. Friend of mine has an Orvis Silver label, brand new (proform) 4-piece, 7', 5wt rod with a mid flex.....screaming deal! But I only have the cash for 1 rod....not multiple site, day, wind specific rods.

Any opinions on how the 2 rod descriptions above compare???? Are they even in the same ballpark?????

    Thanks

I think the seven footer would be cool for some CO rivers but pretty short for all of them. I fish a 8 1/2 ft 5wt on most rivers, but for boat fishing or windy days I go for the 6wt. I think you should keep looking for a 8' 6'' or 9'.
If you can find proform on the Orvis zero gravity mid-flex, it is a great rod. Tip-flex is too heavy in the hand for me

I'd agree that a 7footer for CO rivers and wind is a bit short. Don't know much about the Orvis line so I can't comment on the rod.

Well, exactly what is your price range?

Will you be needing to buy a reel, line, backing, etc. as well?
