    Find of a life time.

I was out looking at some steelie holes this past weekend... a few fish are moving up but not worth gearing up for....

    So...

As I hopped back in the truck, I see a small black round metal object at the bottom of the snow bank. I hopped to get a better look-see... Run back and get my shovel.

I dug out from under 15feet of snow/ice.... it must have been there since the fall.

.... A 6wt Scott G2 and Abel Big Game 1, loaded with line.

I called all the local FLy Shops, no-one has reported it missing. Called Abel and Scott to run the numbers.... No warranty cards were mailed in...

Bad news is. It's in bad shape, the reel seat has some heavy damage and broken rod tip. Reel still runs like new, but needs a good scrub down.

Nice. My dad and I found a Loomis all strung up down on the San Juan in CO about 15 years ago. He still has it.

Sweet find! You did your due diligence, I'm sure any shop could refurb it for short money. Knowing Scott and Abel as companies, you might even be able to get them to do it for you ...

Scott may only charge you their $35 flat fee for repairs given that it hasn't been registered. Worst case, you are looking at $160 for a new tip and butt section.

Congrats, nice find! Admire that you actually tried to find the owner. I lost a cheapie up in Yosemite two years ago, still haven't been able to find it - was a cheapie, but the one my grandpa taught me how to fish on. Hopefully will find it later this year when I head up to the Tuolumne area again.

    Garbage into fly rods

I found the broken, butt end of a Sage RPL when collecting firewood on one of my commercial trips on the MF Salmon. I took it with me, just from a cleaning up the river point of view.
That night when I went to transfer it to the main garbage my buddy Brett says Hey what you got there?
He looked at it and tells me the story of the lifetime warranty behind this rod and says - YOu just got you a new fly rod.

Took into the local sage place, which is the snootiest of the fly shops in town. Guys asks me what happened. I told him the fly rod broke on the Middle Fork. He starts to hem and haw. I tell him the story again. Finally the manager walks by and says its Sage send it in.

cost $10 for shipping and I got a new one.
Didn't steal, didn't lie, just picking garbage on the MF.

I would like to see your point of view but I can't get my head that far up your ass.
