    Painting ski jacket-

While up in Targhee, my ski coat fell a bit too close to the heater and got an orange heat stain under the armpit. It is on white fabric (nylon I'm guessing) and I tried lightly bleaching it twice, but it didn't really seem to work so I'm going an alternate route.

What kind of paint (primer, spray, screenprinters ink, acrylic) would be best to use in this scenario?

Any other advice you could lend me would be much appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Jake

Sure it's a "heat stain"? Sounds more like a problem with pit juice to me. No amount of spray paint is going to get that funk out.

Use a needle and thread and a color matched piece of fabric. Or a can of Rightguard may work too.

I spraypainted a backpack (gray, was required to be black) with some spraypaint designed to bond to plastics and nylons -- got it at walmart. Looks fine and has held up over two 30-40 day seasons.

    I wouldn't recommend spraypainting a jacket, though.......................

I'm not sure, but I think dye might be a better route than paint.

I would just leave it, I have quite a few stains on the jacket already, but these ones are yellowish and underneath my armpit so it does look like a pit stain. I'd like to do whatever I could to rectify this.

Who makes the jacket? Maybe warranty? I know its probably not a warranty issue, but if you didnt spill anything on it or dont have a nasty ass sweat issue they might just give you a break. Maybe even some suggestions if they won't warranty. I really wouldnt think heat should discolor a jacket without it melting first. I mean a dryer (which you can use on some) should get much hotter than anything you wouldve put it near that wouldnt have melted the fabric before staining. Just give the manufacturer a shot anyway...whats a phone call or email?

    Just my $.02.

Dye if anything. And hope like hell nicwax can restore the waterproofness after you bleached it.

if putting it on top of the heater added the stain, then maybe putting it underneath the heater will take it out?

Bumping this thread for further advice. I have a stencil for a logo I want to paint on a ski jacket. Is spray paint for plastics going to work or is there a better option?

plastisol ink for screen printing would work.. then use a heat gun on it to dry it out..

basically how inked t shirts are made in silkscreen shops. well not exactly, but this would be the ghetto way to get er done.

Who fucking cares if it looks like you have a pit stain? If someone wont be friends with you over a pit stain, they probably wont be a very good friend. Unless you got the stain sweating while whacking off in the bathroom before skiing one day you have nothing to worry about.

I want to draw a giant rainbow unicorn on my fartbag. What is the best way to accomplish this?

Kush...come on bro, Aegix stuff breathes perfect before its been altered. Just as well as any other shell I have ever used.

That being said, painting it definitely affects the breathing of a jacket. It wasn't terrible though, and I painted the whole thing.
