Hah, no. Because I've already showed my ASS on this board one too many times.

Splat may lend me a bc back for this weekend, so at least I'll be set up! The one that Anton was wearing in that photo on PowMag in the article Splat wrote. I feel so special right now. I can't wait to skin it up a hill!! Finally, finally. Now I can actually participate in all that stoke similar to that which iskibc & shera post all the time. Even with shit snow, ya gotta learn somehow, right? I'm willing to take on the shit snow.

Hey, does anyone want to help me cut some skins? Nater? I'll give you a call. The skins haven't arrived yet - they'll probably get here tomorrow.....but I want to do another 32-miler tomorrow after work. Soooo....what is the name of that kick-ass bc shop in Mammoth Lakes? And the web link, too?

And whats up with ASS being capitalized? It this an acronym we should know about? And this board can never have enough ASS.

Ass was capitalized because I put emphasis on it. ASS. It just sounds better. And that's how I would have actually said it. I would use the excuse that I was drafting, took a break from writing it, then returned to the board to finish my post, but that just sounds all geeky-architect-like.

PS - thanks for the link!

ill spare you the safety lecture as it sounds like you're hanging with a knowledgable crowd, but do be careful! its a lot of fun out there.. when i was doing more touring i enjoyed some of the hikes/climbs up almost as much as coming down!

I'm not sure if Nater or the rest of your crew has told you yet, but the first time you go into the backcountry you have to go topless and take pics for proof. This is an old practice used to ward off bad luck and bring on safe touring and smiles all around.

Good to see more maggettes stepping into the bc. Have fun and be safe.

Hahahaha. I'll need to put on a bunch of sunscreen first. Actually, I'll probably blend in with the mountain, I'm so damn pale. But, hey, idea - if I go topless, then gee maybe I won't be so pale!

So, what, do the guys go bottomless for a fair trade??

Thanks, the crew around here are pretty knowledgeable when it comes to the bc. I’ll definitely need to read my fair share of books and take classes.

Actually, It used to be full nudity, but after a few too many cold breezes and nude powder days the practice was discontinued at the ladies' request.

But seriously, get someone who has trimmed skins before to help out. The first time is always awkward (and do it somewhere clean nothing ruins skins faster than dirt stuck to the glue).

    Edit: grammar.

And I may be able to help if you can be ready very shortly after 5pm today (Thursday). Otherwise, you'll have to hunt me down at Tioga Pass.

Not gonna make it at 5pm - skins won't be here until tomorrow anyway. I think I'm going to get someone (w/experience) at the Mammoth ski store to help out after skiing on Saturday.

    DG :
It's pretty easy actually. They include instructions along with them and the razor blade thingy to slice 'em...
Remember, as with haircuts, it's damn difficult to cut it longer (wider)
    congrats and travel safely.

Yes, it's not that hard. If you do go on your own with it, just make sure that you trim them so that you've got the edge plus a couple mm of base exposed when the skins are on. Particularly underfoot.

Mmm, just saw this. I may have to try it, as I've made more than my fair share of building models while in college (= I can trim stuff with knives pretty well). This may just save me a little $$$ and make me un-idiotic, too

    Thanks guys.
