    Buena Vista Century TR

Rode the Buena Vista Bike Fest century this morning. What a gorgeous ride!

The ride began in BV and followed 24 uphill for about 30 miles until it veared left and climbed up and around Turquoise Lake. The ride from this point for about 5 - 10 miles was a steady somewhat steep climb. The road entered national forest land and wound its way around the lake with scattered views along the roadside.

After exiting the lake area a loop was done in Leadville on their local bike path the Mineral Trail. This path wasnt much fun but did offer many views of 14'ers and old mining sites.

After the Leadville loop it was downhill and back home on 24. The ride should have been easy and fast, however there was a constant 20mph headwind coming our way and made for a pace ranging from 17 - 27.

This was a great ride with a small number of participants that utilized some nice roads and great country.

Here are some pics from portions of the ride:

I was amazed at how light and fluffy the powdery snow was and at how the challenge never ended.
