Wow, that was hard. I bawled like a baby.

    Austin, I loved you man.

I think I'm going to go take his brother for a ski now.

Sincere condolences for your loss. I can't open these threads without tearing up, and yet I open them anyway. The poems LB post absolutely destroy me. There's nothing like the love of an animal.

So sorry to hear it Mike. He (and the other 2 kids) are wonderful dogs. Austin made it a lot longer than you were told he would and you gave him a great life. I think that's all any dog could ask for. Pass on my condolences to the wife please.

Farvel min ven. It has been hard today in the Sfotex household with the loss of Austin. Even though I have only been around Austin for about a week, he was a great boy, he will be missed. Now hopefully Misty will keep Bishy in line, if not, then tye will have to lay the smack down. RIP Austin. And M, know that if there is something you and the wife need, you have a friend here for y'all.

Our world is full of surrender at the first sign of adversity, do not give up when the challenge meets you, meet the challenge. Through perseverance comes the rewards, the rewards that make life so enjoyable.

Seize the day, trusting little in the future.

if you want something, go after it. if you want to screw someone over, look DEEP in your heart and realize Karma is a bitch

++ vibes, and well, i know what you are going through. my chocolate lab is in hospice care right now .... he is 11, so i know he had a good run. but he's been such a great dog. i will miss him terribly. fortunately he lived long enough to teach my golden how to be a good dog.

here's a photo from happier days (last summer...my golden turns one next month).

Sorry for ya. I still remember when we had to put down my german shepherd for the same reason. Old Herman was a good dog. No he was a great dog. Many of my best childhood memories are of stuff with him.

I am sorry, it sucks doesn't it. When my last dog died I ended up selling my truck, mainly because I couldn't bear looking across the bench seat and not seeing her there anymore.

I miss my dog. She's got some arthritis and lost 9 pounds, but will hopefully gain it back.
    how old was yours?

He was 2 1/2 years old . Not a long life, but a good one.

you seemed to give so much in that 2 1/2 years than most of the dog owners in my neighborhood - a bunch of tools who don't even walk their dogs. by all accounts here, your dog lived a GREAT life.

    So sorry for your loss!

My guy is 10 1/2 and I am trying to prepare myself as much as I can. He has hip problems and I know there will come a time and probably without much warning. I'll always have dogs but he has such a personality, there will never be another one like him.

Just be happy you gave him such a good life and he enriched yours. Thats all you and he can ask for. He had a good life when so many of them dont. RIP!
