thanks for the props, but the real props should go to adam comey from MSI whose brain came up with the live webcast.... and btw.... that was me who filmed the starfish of the century. that happened about 10 feet away from me

it was awesome. the lady getting hit in the face with the firecracker was a bit much (i happened to look over and see it happen, her hair looked like it was smoldering for a bit), but the mayhem only added to the experience.

the skiing was outrageous. i liked the double that lars chickering-ayers did off to skier's right.

I can't argue about the crowds, and i definitely won't argue that Kirkwood does a better job of marketing, but IMO the cirque is a much better venue. the only thing that makes it a little harder to see is that it is bigger.
watch last years winning runs (not superfinals) here. Absolutely flying from top to bottom it took Garbiel over 1:50 to finish his run. Crossmans only took 1:20. Snowbird is a smaller venue, and certainly no more technical than the cirque.
    Garbiels run
the cirque, contest would be going on next week
this pic is from 05, and doesn't include the lower 1/3

What's it gonna take to get this thing on the TV? Props to all involved in the webcast, but this should totally be going off on someone's channel? I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I really don't understand the barriers to that. Comments? Vs., are you listening?

looks like they had some coverage on Versus channel last year: http://usfreeskiing.com/news.html?id=121

Would be nice to air it live on TV, or same day, but maybe getting stats from these webcasts will help make that a reality?

Jeep is title sponsor for the 48straight SX and HP tour now.. we get coverage on CBS, it's not live but it's about a week or so after the event. The overall winners get 2 year leases on jeeps too.

I knew that comment might strike a parochial nerve with some who reside in the splendor of the wood. But I feel the venues are so much more in your face at the Bird. Good views, just like the Cirque, good feature selections on the lines, etc, etc.....but on the last day at the Bird, the action happened so fukkin up-close, it was off the hook.

What action? Claire stripping down and polishing off the handle of tequila? The pink one-piece snow bunnies? "MAKE OUT!" "TAKE YOUR FUCKING CLOTHES OFF ALREADY!" Or the father trying to beat guys down with a shovel for throwing snowballs?

Oh yeaaaah, there was some skiing in there somewhere too.

Well done, Evil E. Any reason the emcees didn't give the shoutout out to the mags I requested (or did they???)

How long will you play it on the site?
I really want to send links to some people to watch it, but I've been traveling without email.

Whenever you can watch a chick strip and polish of a bottle of tequila, a woman get torched by a firecraker, speed kite skiers, pink bunnies and people jumping off rocks all at once, it will inevitably be defined as ACTION.

it does seem like the cirque is top loaded with gnar whereas n. baldy's ampitheatre is right in front of the crowd.

    regarding the videos, great job!
i too would like to see less zoom.

and in case any of the powers that be are listening, i dug the commercials, and certainly don't mind them being inserted to vids like this if that's what it takes make it a success.

ok, now i retract both of those statements. those were shitty videos if they don't include the chick stripping. and if they do, we need more zoom.

Completely agree although I don't know how the fack I missed the chic stripping. Damn fun time, I can't believe this is the first one comp I've caught this season...never again.

Good meeting you Splat(although it's a little foggy), lots of PBR & whiskey in the sun will do that I guess. I do recall coming away from the conversation knowing I needed a pair of 183's.
