I think it was fall of 1989- Plake on cover skiing on K2 Gyrators, I believe.

My first Powder was in '84, when I was 14. Picked it up at a store and promptly covered my bedroom wall with the entire issue. I've subscribed since '89.

I've got older ones somewhere, but the oldest I can lay my hands on right now is Vol.16 No.6 February 88 No skier credits for the cover, but it's a Utah shot and you can only see the guy's face{covered in snow} and his hands..........There's also a "video daze" article rating the years crop of ski flicks (p.31)-Stump's "The Good ,The Rad ,and The Gnarly" receives the top rating- 3 1/2 flakes out of 4 "Gnarly" is a movie for skiers, not snowplowers"-Steve Casimiro

Since I don't know what you all are talking about, my first powder was at Alta 1986, age 2.

Can't remember my first, but the most memorable article is different. I remember an article from a couple of years ago about skiing clear cutted areas. This article stuck in my head because that same year an area on the largest hill near my cottage was clear cut and while hiking through it I saw some stumps that would make great jumps if there was enough snow. To my dissapointment it was a horrible snow year and I was unable to ski the hill. Of coarse now the area is covered with aspen sapplings and unskiable.

First time I read the mag and it clicked was sometime in 1990, became a subscriber in 1993 and turned down an internship in 1997. [homer] Stupid law school! [/homer]

First time I skied the shit was dec 1992 - opening weekend @ Wolf Creek...I had the best time having the worst day on skis. Chicago kids just can't ride the deep stuff so good. It was the begining of a wonderful and revolutionary 6 years of my life.
