Anyone a certified BC ski guide? I'm looking for advice on good programs to enroll in.
Any helpful comments or direction will be greatly appreciated.
Muchos Gracias.

I'm not a guide, but everyone seems to think that an AMGA cert is quickly becoming the gold standard.

The gold standard where? In America? It used to be that the Canadian guide certification was the gold standard in North America because it is tough. Is AMGA trying to get a better cert out there?
In Europe the standard is the IVBV (aka IFMGA aka UIAGM) certification.

AMGA is the biggie for the United States, but they are more Rock/mountaineering oriented and focused. CSGA are a reputable source for North America.
Yo Dawg,
Todd Vogel and SP Parker of Sierra Mountain Center are both AMGA guides. SP is also UIAGM. They are right down the way in Bishop. I took a class from them. Good dudes.

If your looking to become a guide - try the Canadian program, they're more ski oriented. This might be what your looking for:

Alpine Skills International is well run, too bad the ASI lodge is gone. It must be noted that the benefits of becoming a "licensed" guide are still negotiable in the US of A. There are more than a few guides who offer high quality services who are not AMGA accreditted.
