Bud Light Bear Mountain Mogul Challenge
    Mar 29, 2008 - Mar 30, 2008
Pre-registration will open online at 7:00 p.m. eastern time on Tuesday, March 11. Only the first 200 prepaid registrants will be entered for competition. Please check the schedule for important information about the weekend. Please note, this is an amateur competition so no USSA A athletes or USSA B athletes who have qualified for EQS or B championships are allowed to compete.
For the 28th consecutive year 200 amateur bumpers will line up to show their stuff in Bud Light Bear Mountain Mogul Challenge. Spectators are invited relax on the Bear Mountain Deck and enjoy the sunshine, barbeques and beer garden. The action in the spectator venue will be lively with bring your own barbeque and lawn chair viewing areas set up. There will be a barbeque competition on Saturday featuring awards for best appetizer, entrée and desert. Live music from the Bud Light Concert Series will add to the festivities on Saturday with a concert performance by the Smithereens.

Skiers tackle Outer Limits in seven different age categories for both men and women. Skiers are judged on turns and line (50%), air (25%) and speed (25%). Starting at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, competitors each get one run. The top 32 men and 16 women will return to compete in a dual format on Sunday starting at 11 a.m. Pairs of competitors run a dual course with sudden death format; only the winners remain. Awards are presented to the first, second, third, and fourth place finishes for both men and women. These winners` names are engraved on the Bear Mountain Mogul Challenge trophy.

Due to State of Vermont Liquor Laws governing alcoholic beverages in pubic places, specifically related to prohibited acts, Bear Mountain Mogul Challenge spectators and competitors will not be allowed to bring alcoholic beverages to the event, including the parking areas of Killington Resort. Law enforcement from the Rutland County Sheriffs Department, Vermont State Police and Vermont State Liquor Control Board will be enforcing compliance and checking spectator’s bags and coolers at the entrances to the Bear Mountain venue. Killington will expand its beer garden and barbeque selections and offer value prices in order to provide the best possible experience for spectators.

Just read the book that's being slowly written on this over at kzone.
Interested in which party initiated this policy.
Funny thing is, this may have been the one, single time I spent a day at that mountain this season. Not anymore.

    wow. just, wow.

initial "wild guess" impression: vermont hasn't passed any new laws, this is powdr deciding to initiate a new policy and using the state as a scapegoat. ask the police to come limit liquor and they'll gladly come, otherwise they were leaving it alone.

could be completely wrong about that. But the underlying attitude would be consistent with their other actions.

Maybe a fatal accident on the way home would leave the corporation liable and the new owners don't want that on their plate. I don't really know, I'm just talking out my ass and I'm not thrilled about the crackdown. I have to admit, though, to enjoying a number of these events without ever having brought my own beer in. If it's a sunny spring day, you'll all be there.

How are they going to know if the jello shots people bring in are just jello or not? Tasting committee? They better have back up staff and cops b/c they're going to be hammered after tasting the jello shots of the first 200 cars or so.

Anyway, I'm not there for a drunkening...usually just to ski and bop around saying hi to everyone. I do like me a few jello shots though.

Sounds like new laws to me. I don't know of any other state which specifically legislates alcohol like that.
