    Cake Decorating stoke (SR)

Yes you read right....cake decorating (I am a man of many talents).

Long story short. My mom has cake skills, always making amazing cakes when we were kids. So, now that I have a kid, and she was coming to visit, I asked her to bring her stuff and teach my wife and I some tricks.

So, what does one put on a practice cake? Hucking......obviously. I did the skier, my wife did the backdrop (cliffs, snow, etc). Not bad for rookies.

My mom had the design all drawn up based on a phone call we had 2 weeks back.....she used two different photo's she had to make the design (off donner peak, circa 98).

why was i thinking I'd see a large dolly varden type cake with trees and cliff bands and a little plastic skier sending off a cliff? the dolly varden time would make the cake look like a hill! the icing tree should be easy to make same with the cliff and the hard thing may be finding a little skier. my birthday is in 40 something days, I'll be in Norway for my birthday so could you send it there?

That's some sweet cake stoke, considering I am just about to decorate a cake with my four year old daughter for her party today.

Here is the result, not quite as good as yours Huck, but still good cake stoke.

Now I just have to survive 20 four year olds at the house, before I can get out for a afternoon tour.

It was the first thing that crossed my mind.

Actually, you are correct: I would be totally over-stoked for a birthay cake like that. No sarcasm: that is f'ing AWESOME!!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL OF YOU!!!

If it were bigger, I could put on that old skirt/kilt and pop out of it at this year's Cushing Crossing.

    let them eat cake

I cried. That's the most beautiful cake I've ever seen......

a friend runs a high end bakery and they crank out some insane goodies.

    You have inspired me, son.

Here's my cake stoke with a lawn dart series. The Mt. Blady portion is fully edible. Mrs. Passthedutchie was the baker/creator of this masterpiece.

    Thanks Jen!

In addition to being fully edible, this cake was also meant to serve as an avalanche training tool as you'll notice that the skier is pressing off above the top of a dangerous cornice.

Happy belated bday, G! Nice cake, although I think the "yard sale/ Mt Baldy" cake wins so far, at least on appearance. I'd like to determine a winner by taste, though, too

Mt. Baldy was a lemon cake with anti avi frosting. The apron was chocoalte with chocolate chunks of heaven. The tree's and skier were plastic and not so tasty. The alta flag was used as a toothpick later. Very eco-friendly! Except there was a patch of yellow snow near the top.
