    Shi&^%%$T- 916 Related

Well I bought a pair of next years prototype lib tech nas skis(has small reverse camber on tip and tail) with 916. They came today. I went strait to work were they where sent too. Both bindings have the small plastic piece on the wing broken. one is damaged and the other is missing. The box was beat up with a hole near the bindings but I doubt that the damage came from that. Skis are in mint shape but the reason I bought the skis was partially for the bindings. Ive left a message for the guy who I bought them from(seems like a stand up guy). I am planning on mounting them with dukes for spring touring but was hoping to use the 916 for the rest of the season and mount the 16s on my next year skis.
Just venting. Can you use the binding with out the plastic piece. Hoping hell take them back and paypal me back 125-150.

Sounds like a good deal anyway, though a bummer. So....uh....how'd you hook up with the protos? Those sound cool.

Keep the bindings, cannibalize an old pair of 997s for the plastic tab, and epoxy it in there.

Or find a shop that can do this for you.

srwinn sold me a pair of bindings from this thread which were so f'd that marshalthemangolson ended up swapping me out some different bindings (No, the dude never wanted to do anything about it. End rant). Anyway, they had the same problem and marshal's fix is to JB weld the area where the plastic should be and then file it to shape.

I've been skiing on two pairs of bindings like that for over a year and have never had issues with either one releaseing improperly.

anyone knowledgeable will tell you that that toe wing will come out eventually if skied hard enough. JB weld is the fix and you can keep skiing that 916 for many more winters. shit gets beat up when skied properly. Get over it.

    Evil,
I understand what your saying but I would not have bought the skis if I new the bindings needed to be fixed. Not a big deal. I dont think bindings should brake when skied properly and if they do they should be replaced.

I've been skiing on my 916s with one of those black wings missing for awhile now with no noticeable difference. I've heard many times to epoxy a piece in or use jbweld, but I'm lazy, so until they start releasing strangely, I'm probably going to keep skiing on them.

Jesus, just epoxy em in there, use that cold weld epoxy, works wonders. Those fucking things always fall out, if you epoxy em in they're good as new. But hell, what do I know, send em this way if you really don't want em...

I saw those on ebay. Nice find. Yep, I'll fourth the stick weld and file it down. You can epoxy the little piece back in but that doesn't seem to last as long as just using jb for the whole thing and filing. Make sure to sand the metal to rough it up.

Cannibalizing from a 997 works ok but the higher din bindings have a rivet you have to dremel out to really make it work well so look for that.

One other option, look on the bottom of the binding-there's a date stamp. You might be able to warranty the bindings.
