I bet you could have some fun with a wiffle ball bat right now.

Here ~ Some pics. I don't think the pics do them justice, as the ones I saw were an EASY 2 1/2" - 3" long.

They're not very bright, that's for sure. I saw one take off from a bush and fly directly, head-on into a giant red door. And the strongest concentration of them at my folks' was around their metal street light.

"Mormon" Crickets? Man, those kids on Mission have gotten good....
Ice,
MD9 has his reasons for a full-face Helmet - I have mine.I hit one riding home yesterday at about 40mph. The fucker almost covered the whole shield! I guess I'll be wearing the full leathers and sweating my ass off a while longer.
Roo - aiiight. I say dumb shit every now and then...My point was that this area is very 'buggy" in a normal year - especially compared to higher elevations like CO and UT.

lest see some pics of your yards with them
I wish we had big ass hatches of big ass bugs here so we'd get bigger ass trout, we only get a jillion little stinging bugs
Its not that I suck at spelling, its that I just don't care
Well, that was a real letdown. I guess I'll have to wait another 17 years. Hollow threats, all of em, Cicada, Al-qaeda, ralph nada
Yeah, i was hoping for a real bumper crop of Cicadas. Now I guess I won't see my first invasion till I'm like 32, damn that sucks. Stupid bugs not descending on in Apocolyptic fashion.....![]()
I think there should be a different hatch coming in 3-4 years. Although each brood only hatches every 17 years, there are 3 or 4 different broods so really the fuckers hatch about 4 years or so. This WAS supposed to be the motherlode brrod but it didn't seem any bigger than normal to me.
I should probably change my username to IReallyDon'tTeleMuchAnymoreDave.
You guys were in the wrong place! Princeton, NJ = Cicada Central
