Broken Fly Rod

So I left my 8' Cortland flyrod at a friends over night, and now the tip is broken. It is now about 7'4". Can I put a new eye at the tip and keep on casting, or is it going to hurt the rods performance? I'm a newbie at fly fishing anyway. I'm thinkin' it will be alright for now since I suck anyways...

you can put a new eye on it, might be tough to fit if it is broken that far down.

its a cortland, how much can the performance be hurt anyways.

some companies will sell single sections or warranty broken rods. i doubt cortland is one, but you can always check with the manufacturer.

I figured the performance wouldn't be hurt too much. I just started fly fishing last year and I got this rod for about $60 and my reel is a Scientific Angler I scored for free...I'm new to the game and I didn't want to by another rod. I will fix it and keep casting.

if you get into the market for another rod, you can often find good deals on sierra trading post.

also, check out temple fork outfitters. they sell some rods for $99 that cast pretty damn well.

Fez is right and some companys will give an unconditional gurantee even on the lower end rods. Orvis and St.Croix both offer liftime I think. That way if/when you break it again you are coverd!!

Like fez said - you can get a pretty decent low end rod outfit for not too much money. Watch STP for good deals too.

shoot cortland an email when one of their reels broke on me the fixed it asap for free... Also if you still have the tip section you can splice it google rod repair, its pretty easy.
