    exactly...

The last thing I'm advocating is some kind of free for all anything goes wastoid society of workplace drug use here. I just don't like the way the current system operates, I find it to be inherently unfair in the way that tweakers and alcoholics get away with their drug use but the test is so sensitive to marijuana.

I really liked the concept behind this:
    Alternatives to Drug Testing

Drug testing is routinely criticized as being invasive, expensive, and inaccurate. Moreover, it might notcatch other, very real, problems. "The majority of accidents are caused by stress and fatigue, not substance abuse," maintains Tammie Fry, human-resourcesdirector at Purgatory Resort, a ski and summer resort, in Durango, Colo. Fry says that although her industry is moving toward it, Purgatory has decided notto do random drug testing, opting instead for computer-based performance testing.

Employees in such safety-sensitive jobs as ski-lift operation and child care get trained in a kind of PC-based video game, during which they set their ownperformance "standard." Each day, some 250 of the company's 700 employees take the test before they clock in. The test takes less than a minute, withemployees given eight chances to meet their baseline scores. If they miss, they're either assigned different responsibilities or sent home.

Fry says employees "overwhelmingly support the idea over random drug testing." Computer-based performance testing, she says, is also cheaper: the systemPurgatory uses costs about $130 per employee for the first year, $64 for each of the next two years, and $27.50 annually after that.
Doesn't this get to the heart of the matter much more effectively?

I like that idea that they are using at Purgatory. If only it could test for laziness, health problems, and legal issues that might make them a shitty employee.

Performance and impairment are only two issues out of many that are related.

Regardless of the level of "impairment" that may or may not be present, MJ is illegal. We not only exclude people because of that, but also if they have had DUI's, multiple speeding tickets or any property crime at all. There is a high level of public trust, and we can afford to be , and should be, very very picky about our employees.

Further, you would be surprised at how many people go in for drug tests and fail because of cocaine or meth...at the bottom level, it is catching the people who are so addicted they can't escape daily use even to get a job.

Our insurance company does not discriminate between UA and non UA policies. That does not mean, however, that we don't take employee health into consideration. Not only is MJ use off the clock prohibited, but we also prohibit tobacco use on or off the clock. In this case it isn't the public expectation of performance, but the employee's. You have to pass stringent physical fitness testing and maintain an athletic level at all times. If we allowed employees to smoke pot on their own time, the existing employees would go ballistic.

Good thing they're not hair testing or you'd have had to go the Brittey Spears route and shave your head.

most places will ask for a pube in that case.
you'd have to go for the full body wax to beat the hair test.

I may have to take another too. When I left the last job I had that tested, I vowed to never work for anyone who tested again. But in this economy, I may have to reconsider.

The first one I took, some dude watched me. There was a mirror at dick level. That I WILL NOT do again. If I go in and they want to watch, I'm out.

    ING

    NO.

I'd rather be unemployed than work somewhere like that.

Even when I take my next test I'm giving them fake urine even though I'll be clean.

    Fuck them. Fuck their test.

    THE COUNT
Workers May Lie About Drug Use, but Hair Doesn’t

    By PHYLLIS KORKKI
Ever since employer drug testing of job applicants and other workers took hold in the 1980s, the share of people who have tested positive for drug use has steadily declined. That’s according to data from Quest Diagnostics, which administers many of those tests.

Between January and June of this year, 3.5 percent of Quest urine samples showed signs of either illegal drug use or use of drugs like amphetamines, Quest says. That compares with 4.6 percent in 1999 and 12.7 percent in 1989.

But let’s face it — some job applicants may stop their drug use temporarily in anticipation of a test, or they may even find a way to cheat. The people in this category might face a new challenge: the hair test, a newer technology gaining acceptance among a small but growing number of employers.

“Testing of urine specimens can detect a single instance of drug use in the prior one to three days, while hair testing can detect a pattern of repetitive use over a period of up to 90 days,” Quest says. PHYLLIS KORKKI

I wasn't going to read through all this but if you just flush your body (which worked for me back in the day when we used to smoke a 1/4 a day) just make sure you take plenty of vitamin B tablets. This will make your otherwise clear unrine look a more normal yellow color.

Anyone ever tried to induce ketosis as a way to burn fat and eliminate metabolites? It would seem in the short term you would see an increase, but it would be faster overall?
