    What's up B!

How do you think the medium flex compares to say....oh I dunno, let's pick 2 random skis out of the air here....let's say the 193 AK No Ka Oi and the 194 Dyn Super Nobis.

oh and FYI -- these would possibly be mounted as a touring rig as I'm looking for a stiff ski for BC....but lightweight.

I skied a couple of days on them. Wrote something quite lengthy here or on pmag. Shouldn't be too hard to find.

Hmm, the mediums where prolly a little bit stiffer than the IntuitivPro/SuperNobis but not a whole lot; it's a while since I skied the Proriders though. From what I saw of your skiing they'd be the flex to choose. Last years "stiff" was ridiculous; granted, there are people who could ski them but they were imo too stiff for the type of ski suffering from tip dive and related control issues. Last years "stiff" won't be around anymore, there are some changes made to the flex pattern. I think they are softening them very slightly in the tip and then loosing the "stiff" version based on comments from owners and their own experiences; at least that's what Cyrille told me last I saw him.

The cool thing about the Tablas is that they are hands down the easiest ski to haul ass on, whether in technical or tree runs or just open highspeed stuff that I've yet been on. Be prepared for a ski that'll make you realize you've been skiing slowly all those years up until now!

The medium flex is currently the one ski I would by if I had to have one pair of skis for everything and had to pay myself.

......and you're not the only one having wet dreams about those as a touring rig either.

Whoops! fack, I just saw the "Surreal" part of the thread now; was thinking "Tablas" until now - sorry about that. However it doesn't change much; Surreals could be a really frikkin good rando-ski. Glisseur did the Tour de la Meije in a day (quite often a 2-day trip) on his Surreals with S916s and Trekkers and was happy (except I guess for the Trekkers on traverses...).

One thing though; why not just get some Tablas for your touring setup. True, on real hardpack the Surreal might have a slight edge but the Tabla is hanging in there. And when it's soft it's just different worlds.

Thanks for the info. Telepath....the medium flex sounds like a winner. The Tabla is super tempting....but since this would primarily be a touring rig (keeping my SN's & NKO's for the resort), I'm not sure that a ski with a 120 waist would be ideal for the type of BC trips I generally go on here in the Sierras. i.e. Mostly spring chuting expeditions where I'm generally skiing corn snow in open bowls & hardpack / ice in steep chutes....but not so much pow.

Mulltelizer -- I do a search for your thread. thx.

Just got some beta from the 'D' in DB on the flexes of the Surreal for next year....this will be up on their website shortly, but here's the abridged version:

Basically, the Surreal will come in 2 flexes for next year and their flex will be ranked using a "pound" rating system. The Surreal (don't know about the Tabla or the R) will be available in both a 23 lb rating and a 27 lb rating in a 185 and a 195.

He compared the Super Nobis (and maybe an exlosiv) to being maybe slightly stiffer than the 27 lb Surreal (e.g. perhaps 28 lbs.).

And as I think has been mentioned here before....a flex chart of sorts comparing DB flexes with other skis will be up on the DB website soon.

So now I've figured out that the 27 lb version would be the way for me to go......now just need to fuggur out the length.

Btw., I'm supposed to meet Cyrille in a week or two as they're having a test of their protos in Stryn this summer. While I won't get to ski them (knee fukkage ) I'll at least do some drooling and parking-lot flexing. Glisseur should be there and will prolly ski some to compare with his 04 medium Tablas.

And yeah, for spring stuff the Surreal is prolly the best answer. Skiingwise I'd still go for the Tabla but 120 is a tad much for traversing up frozen crust on skins....

Are there going to be more than one length of Surreal availible? I thought they were just doing a 194 again? I know there has been talk of a 201 Tabla (though the DB-boys seem to think it's unnecessary; come on, that's what people said about 120-waists a few years ago too. You don't know until you've tried it imo...) but I'm not convinced that it'll be made. Stephan said they'd make different length Surreals?

As a length-o-meter to a ski you have probably seen around, the 194 Surreal is the same overall length tip-to-tail as a 189 Hippy Stinx, but with about 3cm more running surface. Go for the 194's as the swing weight for your setup will pretty much be the same as the swing weight of your boots and bindings only. They are feathers on your feet.

Surreals would be a badass touring setup, but after you ski them you'll want to get rid of your Super Nobis and NKO's and pick up a pair of Tablas for your ridiculousness skis. I said it before and I'll say it again: Best Skis Ever.

thanks....but as I mentioned above about a ski with a 120-ish waist (Tabla Rosa) being too big for what I want out of a touring ski, I'm not interested in the Prophet.

I'm always in the market for hella cheap skis, yo. And I'm a fruitcake telemarketer, so the easy flex (I assume) of The Prophets will be perfect. Post pictures, yo.

I can get the Prophets but is there any demand for 135mm waist skis with 40meter turn radius. Drop a line if you are.

I went out there in search of experience. To taste, and to touch, and to feel as much as a man can, before he repents.

I am currently writing this from a country near the land of the Prophet, but he won't let me hijack this tread.

I demoed both the Surreal and the Tabla Rasa prototypes last summer. Amazing skis. Lightweight, stiff, damp, and versatile. I too am considering the 914 cm Surreal for a BC rig.
